Gorge Wind Forecast

A series of strong storm systems moves inland near the still-closed US-Canada border. Those systems drive fall-style westerlies for the next three days. For Sunday, we start with light west wind. The wind picks up in the far western Gorge, Rooster to Viento, at W 24-27 from 2-5pm. It then picks up to gusty 25-30 in the far west and east of Avery after 5pm. Central Gorge launches, Swell to Doug’s, stay lighter, at perhaps gusty, rainy 13-16. River flow: 105kcfs. High temp: 60.

Monday morning starts with gusty 25-29+ from Stevenson to Rufus. That wind fills in to Boardman by 8am. If you want it, get up early and get on it. By early afternoon, westerlies drop to 7-10 in the western Gorge and 18-22 east of The Dalles. High temp: 64.

Another wet system moves in on Tuesday for another round of stormy westerlies. Look for W 24-27 west of Bonneville Dam until early afternoon. As the system moves in, the wind picks up to gusty 25-29 from Stevenson to Rufus. Wednesday starts in the teens and spins to light easterly by early afternoon.
