Gorge Wind Forecast

It’s another fine late summer morning here in the Gorge, and the fisherfolk are out there chasing the fall run. Yesterday: 5634 made it past Bonneville. If Bonneville dam weren’t there, all the fish would have made it through! Wind over the next few days is nothing to document via go-pro. Light westerlies today. Teens to low twenties the next two days. After that: impressive rainfall thanks to a beast of a low in the Gulf of Alaska with nothing but gusty frontally-driven westerlies through the end of the week.

Sunday: light west wind early at 8-12 from Viento to Swell with less than 10mph elsewhere. Afternoon: light west wind at 8-12 from Stevenson to Hood River. Light and variable wind to the east. River flow is 71,600cfs and temp is 65 degrees. Monday: light and variable early. 15-18 from Stevenson to The Dalles in the afternoon. High temp: 75. Tuesday: 10-13 in the morning all through the Gorge. Afternoon: 10-13 in the west. Gusty 18-22 from The Dalles to Rufus with 13-16 near Arlington. After Tuesday, it’s on-and-off rain all through the week with periods of gusty 20-26 east of The Dalles.

Kiting is no longer allowed at the Marina – it has become unsafe for other user groups. Lyle is now off limits unless you can get to the sandbar without crossing the RR tracks. If you cross the tracks, you will be ticketed. Lyle: loved to death. Roosevelt: still closed due to wind damage from earlier this year. Mosier is only available to residents of 97040 (Mosier).
