Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished

It looks like the rest of the extended forecast, through Sunday, will be sunny and dry on the mountain. Well, the snow won’t be dry, but the air will be dry enough to support sunshine. The next sign of precip in the models shows up offshore on Sunday evening. It’s really too far out still to make any sort of prediction based on that, so make plans to enjoy a sunny week on the mountain.

Gorge Wind Forecast

East wind at 30-35 this morning fades to light and variable or calm wind by 1pm. The wind will pick back up tonight, for E 25-30 on Monday morning. By Monday evening, the wind will be down to 15-20. Tuesday looks like light east wind early. As high pressure builds offshore, we’ll have light west wind in the afternoon.

Random Morning Thoughts

Looking at the news this morning, I found myself deeply disturbed by our new president’s attacks on the media crowd counts at the inauguration. Our individual relationships and sense of safety in the world are built on a foundation of trust. Trusting in people and institutions gives us an underlying sense of continuity that leads us to view the world as predictable. With this as our background expectation, we can go about our lives with less worry.

When we receive conflicting messages about what is or is not true, we feel confused. When our intuition and the reality we perceive through sight, sound, taste and touch is contradicted by outside messages, especially from outside authority figures, we begin to question ourselves. In a relationship, this kind of emotional abuse is referred to as gaslighting. It’s not okay.

In response, we need to rededicate ourselves to truth. We may not be able to sort out the truth in the mass media (although there are many lists out there that will tell you which news sites are fake sites). We can choose to tell the truth as we’ve experienced it first-hand. We can renew our faith and trust in our own intuition and integrity. We can commit ourselves to not lying, to not misleading, and to cultivating trust among our friends, family, and communities. Speak the truth. Create stability around you. Build trust. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast

Once again, temps continue to hover near freezing, giving the higher Gorge elevations snow and the lower elevations rain. Expect rain this morning and sprinkles this afternoon. Temps will be in the mid 30’s all day. Light wind. 62% chance of rainbows. Monday brings a few sprinkles in the morning under cloudy sky. It’s possible we’ll have sunbreaks later in the day. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and the mid 30’s in the afternoon. East wind. 14% chance of rainbows. Tuesday looks dry and clear after morning low clouds burn off. Temps will be in the upper 20’s early and the upper 30’s in the afternoon. Light east wind turns to light westerly in the afternoon. No rainbows. Next chance of precip is minimal, but looks like Wednesday at some point.
