There a nice gradient out there this morning (if you find these things nice) of .11 (pdx-dls) and .04 (dls-psc) with west wind in the upper teens on the river. Although we’re dealing with a messy atmosphere today – weakening front early, second weather disturbance later- we will see wind. Expect 16-19 pretty much everywhere this morning, backing off in the desert this afternoon, and picking up to 23-26 from Hood River to Mosier by noon and from Stevenson to Rufus at 23-26 this afternoon. Gusty and up-and-down should be part of your expectation for today. Continued after the chart.

Random Morning Thoughts
I’m thinking about boletes and chanterelles this morning, and that’s got me thinking about trust. Mushroom hunters spend a lot of time trying to find good spots, and they don’t like to share those spots. For good reason.
When we share our spots, we make people swear not to tell anyone about them, and we make people swear not to come back without us to pick the spot. There’s a lot of trust involved.
I no longer share my spots; too many times I’ve found friends picking them and telling other people about them. And then I have to find new spots because mine are filled with stumps, not mushrooms.
And this brings me to trust. When someone shares something with you – words, places, emotions – they expect confidentiality, unless they expressly say something’s not confidential. And that confidentiality isn’t just for a minute or a day or a year. It’s for life. And when someone gossips about something confidential, you are sworn by the original confidential expectation, not by the gossiper’s free tongue.
Trust is a powerful thing; it connects us to our hearts and to our communities. It creates a sense of safety, and that grounds us to the world. Be trustworthy, and you shall be awesome. Have an awesome day.

Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and mid 70’s in the afternoon. Light east wind. Monday looks sunny with temps in the upper 30’s (brrr) early and the upper 70’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows for the three-day period.

Road and Mountain Biking
Still dusty near Hood River. Hospital Hill and Whoopdee are still closed due to fire danger. It’s still dusty on the 44 Road. No recent reports from Lewis River/Falls Creek/Plains of Abraham, but those places are likely to be less dusty. It’s going to be rather windy for road biking today, but tomorrow morning looks awesome (if cold), and Monday looks good (if a little strong on the east wind side of things).
