Snow is falling on the slopes of Mt. Hood this morning, a nice switch from the rain that fell the last couple of days. We’ll see continued on-and-off snowfall today. The snow level will be 4000′ early, dropping to 2500′ this afternoon and 1500′ overnight. We’ll see approximately .4” water value (WV) between this morning and 4pm, for 3-4” of new snow. Well see another .2-.4” WV tonight, for 2-4”. Wind today will be WNW 30-35 pretty much all day, fading a little bit tonight. Continued after the chart.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…
Tomorrow (Sunday) starts off with flurries and sunbreaks, becoming sunny with low clouds midday and cloudy after 1pm. Just a few flurries will fall in the afternoon unless the storm track changes – models currently say the bulk of the precip will stay well south of Mt. Hood. The snow level tomorrow will be 1500′ all day long. Wind will be W 25 early, fading to W 10-15 by noon.

See below for details.
Monday looks partly cloudy early, sunny midday, and cloudy in the evening. The free air freezing level will be 3000′ early and 8000′ in the afternoon and evening. Wind will be SW 15 early and W 15 for the rest of the day.
Things get… interesting… on Tuesday with rain in the morning and heavy rain in the afternoon. Wednesday is up in the air, as the rain may stay north of us. Models currently suggest a direct hit by the Pineapple Express on Thursday, drowning the mountain in inches of rain. But… that’s several days out, so let’s wait a bit and see.

Random Morning Thoughts
I’m sitting here this morning doing my work in the company of a box of tissues, a cold cup of coffee, and my cat (who I locked in a different room last night so I could sleep). When I looked inside myself for what to talk about, I was surprised to find a cozy little bonfire burning in my chest. I haven’t got a clear idea of what’s feeding it, but it’s a nice reminder that these things live within us.
I’m having a nice day today, so it’s not really counterintuitive that I found something nice in there. But even on the worst days, we’re likely to find something inside to break up the dread, the anxiety, the anger, or the frustration. If you have a moment, take this opportunity to turn inward and go on a tour.
There’s the obvious stuff, of course – your sore legs, your aching heart, your hungry belly. But see if you can look for smaller things… what’s going on in your right big toe, for example? Your shins? The left side of your lower belly? Get really curious, and see if there’s some place in there that feels happy or calm or contented or serene or some other feeling on the positive side of the spectrum. When you find that place, familiarize yourself with it. It’s a resource you can call on in tough times.
No, seriously. If you find happiness in your big toe now, you’ll probably find it there when you’re having a crappy day too. And in the midst of crappiness, one tiny spark of happiness can turn things around, or at least help. So take a minute to go on a magical mystery tour of your inner world. You might just find some really awesome stuff. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
Today started off rainy and will alternate between periods of rain and dry periods. If you want to play outside today and stay dry, you’d best check the radar image! Temps will be in the low 40’s early and the mid 40’s in the afternoon. East wind early, west wind after 2pm. 99% chance of rainbows.
Tomorrow looks partly cloudy with a few sprinkles possible, though unlikely, after 4pm. Temps will be in the mid to upper 30’s early and the mid 40’s in the afternoon. That said, if it’s partly cloudy or clear tomorrow morning, there’s a decent chance of black ice on the roads, so be careful out there. West wind early, light and variable in the afternoon, 18% chance of rainbows.
Monday will probably have Nothing in the morning and partly cloudy sky in the afternoon. Temps will be in the mid 30’s early and the mid 40’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Tuesday looks very wet. Wednesday’s a crapshoot depending on the storm track, and Thursday looks torrential.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
It poured rain all night, which means you really shouldn’t be riding the doubletrack at Syncline today. Moab and Maui are probably okay, but you will damage the doubletrack if you ride it. So, use your judgment. In other bike news, the gravel roads are in good shape, as always, and so is the pavement, except the higher-elevation pavement (unlike last year, when you could ride Vista Ridge in March).
