Gorge Wind Forecast


It’s Saturday morning, and this forecast is for the weekend. We’ll have east wind and sunshine for a few more days before we head into a cloudier, stormier weather pattern. For Saturday, you can expect the easterlies to peak at 25-30 near Rooster Rock and 20-25 from Cascade Locks to Viento. There will be slight dip (and increased gustiness) in the afternoon, but the easterlies will pick back up overnight. River flow is 64,100cfs and river temp is 58 degrees.

Sunday starts with easterlies at 25-30 near Rooster and 20-25 from Viento to Stevenson. You’ll want to take advantage of the wind early because it’ll back off to 10-15 by noon and 5-10 by 2pm. Monday’s easterlies start at 20-25 and fade to 5-10 in the afternoon. Tuesday’s forecast currently looks light and variable, but that could change, of course!

Mt. Hood Mountain Weather Forecast

Continued clear and calm weather for the next three days. Free air freezing level Saturday: 14,000′. Wind: SW 10. Sunday… FAF: 13,000′ falling to 12,000′. Wind: light and variable. Monday… FAF: 12,000′ falling to 11,000′. Wind: light and variable. Slight chance of showers Tuesday night into Wednesday. Heavier precipitation will fall as rain Thursday with a snow level of 8000′-9000′.

Sunny and dry fall weather continues through Monday, perhaps through Tuesday. For Saturday, the weather will be clear and sunny. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and low 70’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Sunday looks sunny. Temps will be near 40 early and near 70 in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Monday looks clear. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and near 70 in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. High clouds move in Tuesday afternoon with a chance of sprinkles overnight. Looks like we’ll see heavier rain on Thursday.

Road and Mountain Biking

There’s brown pow on many trails right now. Post Canyon and Hospital Hill are drying out, so this is a great opportunity to try a different trail. Next rain: Tuesday midday. Upcoming Post Canyon trail work parties (all meet at Family Man at 9:30am): October 27, November 4, November 17. Upcoming Hood River County work party: October 27th, 9am at Post Flats Staging Area.

Saturday’s community events: trail run in Post Canyon at 8am. Group road bike ride at Mountain View Cycles at 9am. Free bootcamp workout at 10am at Sorosis Park. Free yoga at Pure Yoga in Hood River and The Dalles at 10:30. There’s free yoga at 9am on Sunday at Samadhi in White Salmon and all-ages touch rugby at the Hood River Marina at 11am. Next Saturday is the annual Winter Weather Conference at OMSI in Portland from 10am to noon.
