Milkshake Ride #1

There’s not much point to this ride until they finish connecting Hood River to Portland with a bike trail, but… it ends with a delicious milkshake, so what the heck!

Distance: 27 miles
Climbing: 1100 feet
Freeway riding: 3 miles or so each way (yuck)

Drive to Cascade Locks and park someplace close to the East Wind Drive-In. Get on your bike and ride west along the bike path out of town. A serious of bike paths combines with a couple miles on the freeway before Warrendale (get off I-84 there and get on the Old Highway 30) for a mostly-nice ride to Multnomah Falls.

For a longer ride with more climbing, continue 8.5 miles past Multnomah Falls to Crown Point for stunning views of the Gorge and 43 miles round trip.

(More details to follow)

This ride’s an out-and-back, so turn around wherever and head back to Cascade Locks. Stop at the East Wind (you’ll see the line and smell the burgers) for an oversized soft-serve cone or over-malted malted milkshake. Super yummy.
