Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…
Tuesday starts out windy and snowy, and nothing changes about that until Wednesday morning. The snow level Tuesday will be 2500′ before sunrise, dropping to 1500′ for much of the day and 500′ or so overnight. Mt. Hood will receive .8-1.0” WV between 4am Tuesday and 4pm Tuesday, for 9-12” of fluffy new snow. Another .5” WV falls overnight, for 5-6” of additional powdery goodness. Wind on Tuesday will be wicked: W 40-45 all day (free refills!), turning to WNW 35-40 after 10pm.
Wednesday morning may see a few lingering snow flurries, but the sky will clear by mid-morning at the latest. Clear sky sticks around all day, and high clouds move in around midnight. The free air freezing level on Wednesday will be 500′ in the morning, 1000′ in the afternoon, and 5000′ after midnight. Wednesday wind will start at WNW 35 and fade to light and variable by the afternoon. The wind picks up to SW 15 after midnight.

Random Morning Thoughts
For many people, today is a day of gift-giving. In the midst of giving things to each other, we often lose sight of the underlying meaning. We give gifts because we care about people. We give gifts because we want to show the other person that we have feelings for them.
It’s easier to give a material present than to say what’s really on our mind. Expressing our love for others can be scary. We can feel vulnerable. We can feel like we’re breaking unspoken societal rules to not speak from our hearts – after all, receiving spoken love and gratitude is embarrassing for many of us.
I say “fuck that”. On this holiday morning, take a risk and speak the words that lie behind your gift-giving. Let your friends and family know how much you care, and let them know what it is about them that makes you care.
I wish all of you a very happy holiday. By reading this forecast, whether you donate or not, you’re letting me know that I’m making an impact in the lives of others. Thank you all for adding meaning to my life. That means the world to me. I wish you the best. Have an awesome day.
Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Gorge Weather Forecast
I just went outside and looked at the sky, and I didn’t see anything. That means we must have Nothing this morning. Models suggest Nothing this morning, high clouds midday, and snow after 5:30pm. Temps will be in the upper 20’s early, the mid 30’s midday, and the low 30’s tonight. I think we’ll see 2-3” of snow before we see a brief switch to sleet and/or freezing rain after midnight. Light wind. No rainbows.
Tuesday will likely start off with sleet before switching to rain between 7am and 10am. The rainfall lets up after 11am, leaving us with on-and-off showers and sprinkles. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and the upper 30’s in the afternoon. Light to moderate west wind. 99% chance of rainbows.
Wednesday looks partly cloudy. Temps will be in the low to mid 30’s early and the upper 30’s in the afternoon. Light west wind early turns to east wind in the afternoon. No rainbows.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
We’re still looking at freeze-thaw conditions at Syncline, so please don’t ride there. You’ll do major trail damage riding in the delicate freeze-thaw mud. If that’s not enough to convince you, you’ll have a very, very muddy bike to clean up. If you’re really lucky, that mud will freeze on your bike, making it even more difficult to clean. If you’re desperate to get on a bike, you can always head to the Petersburg School Loop in The Dalles. They don’t gravel out there, and they receive (generally speaking) less snow than Hood River does.
Upcoming Events
It’s Monday, and there’s meditation at Trinity Natural Medicine at noon. That’s followed by Tai Chi at the Mt. Hood Town Hall at 1pm. There’s a walking happiness group that leaves One Community Health in The Dalles at 5pm, there’s Kickball at Daubenspeck Park at 6, free yoga at Samadhi at 6, Pickup Basketball at the Mt. Hood Town Hall at 6:30, free Zumba at St. Francis House in Odell and at the Parkdale Community Center, and YogaFaith (Christ-centered yoga) at Pure Yoga in The Dalles.
Have an awesome day today!
