See below for details.
Thursday looks very, very, very wet. The snow level will be 10,000′ in the morning, 8000′ through midnight, and 5500′ after midnight. We’ll see 1.5” WV as rain between 4am and 4pm. Another 2.5” WV falls between 4pm Thursday and 4am Friday. It’s possible the last .5” WV will fall in the form of a couple inches of wet snow, but it’s very hard to tell this far out. So, we will wait and see. Wind on Thursday will be SW 40+ all day long.

Random Morning Thoughts
I have this theory about those of us who grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Our winter weather is so wet and gray (I once saw a survey that said that only 10% of Portland residents like the weather there) that a couple of things happen. First, many people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, becoming depressed when the sun disappears for weeks on end. Second, many people are driven to make the most of every sunny day, pushing themselves to do things they don’t really want to do, just because the sky has turned a different color and the sun is blazing upon the earth.
I’m all for getting out in the sun – goodness knows I was out enjoying it yesterday.
But when we feel like we “must” get outside and ride or run, there’s a problem. Or, if we stare at the blue sky and sun, wishing there was more of it, we detract from our enjoyment of the moment. Just check in with yourself – are you going for a run or a ride when you’d really prefer to sit on a bench in the sun with a book? Are you wishing for more sun when the sun and blue sky is right there in front of you?
If you’re going to get out in the sun, make sure you’re doing exactly what you really want to do and enjoying it in the moment. It’s a rare winter gift, and it’s important to make the most of it. Looks like we’ll see sun this afternoon and sun on Wednesday. Sunshine is awesome. Have an awesome day!

Road and Mountain Biking
I went for a jog on Syncline yesterday, and I’d say it’s okay to ride all the lower trails. I didn’t jog up high, because I was more interested in sunshine than exercise, and going to the Brown House seemed like a long ways to go. Anyway, the dirt was pretty good over there. If you’re riding, please ride through the muddy areas, not around them, and stay on the trail instead of making new trails. It’s also good riding on the road right now if you can handle a little gravel. Looking ahead a couple days, the forecast is for a high of 55 degrees on Wednesday. You may want to plan for a bike ride that day!
