Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

It’s a clear Monday morning on Mt. Hood. The weather turns cloudy in the afternoon and snowy overnight. Snow continues through Tuesday night, and clear weather returns on Wednesday afternoon.

For Monday, expect sunshine through early evening. Snow starts up around 11pm, becoming heavy after midnight. The snow level will be 0′ early, 5500′ in the afternoon, 3000′ in the evening, and 1000′ after midnight. About 0.5”+ WV falls overnight, for 5”+ of standard variety snow. Wind will be light SW early, SW 15 in the afternoon, W 35 in the evening, and NW 30 after midnight. That NW wind is why there’s some range in the snowfall amounts; we could see significant orographic enhancement.

Heavy snowfall continues with the NW wind on Tuesday. The snow level will be 1000′ early, 1500′ midday, and 1000′ overnight. About 0.7”+ WV falls during the day, for 7-8” of fluffy powder. Another 0.4” WV falls overnight, for 4-5” fluffy powder. Wind will be NW 30 early, NW 35 in the afternoon, and NW 25 overnight.

Wednesday starts with lingering orographic flurries and ends up clear. The snow level will be 1000′ early and 2000′ later. Just a trace of snow will fall. Wind will be NW 25 early, NW 10 in the afternoon, and W 5 overnight. Thursday and Friday both look dry and sunny with the freezing level around 4000′. Next chance of any precip is Saturday, and it’s just a tenth of an inch or so.

Gorge Wind

Monday’s another easterly day: 35-40 near Rooster and 20-25 near Stevenson in the morning. By late afternoon, the wind will drop to 10-15 near Cascade Locks and turn to light westerly near Rooster. Tuesday starts calm. West wind builds after 5zm, landing in the 26-30 range from Viento to Arlington with gusty and rainy 28-23 near Stevenson. Wednesday starts with 19-23 from Stevenson to Biggs. IN the afternoon, the wind drops to W 10-13 through the entire Gorge.

Road and Mountain Biking

Hi everyone! Syncline is covered in snow. Apparently quite a few people have been trying to ride it, which has left muddy, messed up trail until the 4th switchback. It’s not rideable yet, folks! The next week of relatively warm weather will help melt the snow, but even then, we may need to give it some time to dry out. Please spread the word, because muddy soil is delicate and easily damaged.
