Mt. Hood Weather Forecast


It’s Friday morning, and snow continues on the mountain. Snowfall increases tonight through Sunday morning and then reverts to clear sky for a couple of days before a return to snowfall. Winter has definitely arrived!

For Friday, light snow during the day gives way to moderate snow overnight. The snow level will be 1000′ early and 3000′ in the afternoon. About 0.1” water value (WV) falls during the day, for an inch of new snow. Another 0.4” WV falls tonight, for 4-5” of Cascade powder. Wind will be SW 20 early, WSW 30 mid-morning, SW 15 in the evening, and W 15 after midnight.

Saturday looks snowy. The snow level will be 2000′ early, 1000′ in the afternoon, and near the surface overnight. About 0.4” WV falls during the day, for 4-5” of powder. Another 0.4” falls overnight, for another 4-6” of fluffy powder. Wind will be W 15-20 all day and light and variable after midnight.

Sunday starts off with partly cloudy sky and turns clear. The free air freezing level will be at the surface. Mountain temps will be in the low 20’s early and teens later. Light and variable wind builds to NNW 15-20 after midnight. Monday looks clear. Mountain temps will be in the teens. Wind will be NNW 15-20 all day. Next snow arrives on Tuesday night.
 

Gorge Wind


Easterlies at 15-20 near Rooster on Friday morning give way to easterlies at 5-10 this afternoon. Saturday starts off with very light east flow and (maybe) turns around to W 12-15 from Stevenson to Avery. Sunday starts with light west wind at 5-10 and quickly turns around to E 10-15 from Viento to Rooster Rock at 7am. Monday’s easterlies looks like 40-45mph.

Hood River Weather Forecast

We have overcast sky and icy roads this morning. We’ll see light snowfall today: up to 2” during the day and another 3” overnight. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and maybe mid 30’s midday. East wind. No rainbows. Saturday looks snowy in the morning and showery in the afternoon. Temps will be near 30 early and in the upper 30’s later. Temps drop below freezing overnight for up to 1” of new snow. Light east wind early. West wind in the afternoon. 87% chance of rainbows. Sunday starts out cold and cloudy and turns sunny. Temps will be in the mid 20’s early and mid 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows.

Road and Mountain Biking

Silly rabbit… it’s not biking season in the Gorge. It’s XC skiing and BC skiing season! Wax those skis with some red and get out and play in the snow!
 

Upcoming Events

The Kickstand Coffee fun run usually happens today, but I’m guessing it’s off. There’s a by-donation yoga class at 4:15pm at Yoga Samadhi in White Salmon. The cupid Shuffle fun run is Saturday at Shortt Supply at 9:30am. 3 mile run. Wear green if you’re single, red if you’re taken, and yellow for “it’s complicated.”
