Meet your forecaster: Temira

For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.

This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

One more totally clear day on Mt. Hood gives way to some clouds on Saturday and then a snowstorm and blizzard on Sunday. After that, it’s back to clear sky next week.

For Friday, expect sunshine all day. The free air freezing level will be 6000-6500′ with temps just above freezing on the slopes. Wind: WSW 15 early, SW 10-15 in the afternoon, W 15-20 overnight.

Saturday starts with some high clouds for a chance at a colorful sunrise. High clouds move in and out during the day and give way to light snow after midnight. The snow level will be 6000′ early, 5500′ in the afternoon, 3000′ in the evening, and 2500′ after midnight. Just 0.1” water value (WV) falls overnight, for an inch of new. Wind will be W 15-20 early, WSW 10 in the afternoon, and WSW 35 after midnight.

Sunday will be snowy all day. If nothing changes in the forecast, there’s a shot at a shutdown due to wind in the afternoon. The snow level will be 2500′ during the day and 1000′ after midnight. About 0.8” WV falls during the day, for 7-9” of new snow. Another 0.5” WV falls overnight, for 5-6” of powder. Wind = problematic. WSW 35 early, WSW 50-70 midday, W 60 in the afternoon (goodbye lifts) and NW 40 after midnight.

Monday starts with flurries and ends with high clouds. The sky returns to clear overnight. The snow level will be 1000′ early, 2000′ in the afternoon, and the freezing level will be 0′ after midnight. Just a track of snow falls during the day. The wind will be NW 40 early, steadily fading to NW 10 after midnight. Next week, if nothing changes, looks mostly dry and sunny.

Gorge Wind Forecast

Easterlies on Friday give way to westerlies on Saturday and sunday. For Friday, expect E 20-25 in the morning from Rooster to Viento. The wind goes calm in the afternoon. Saturday brings W 10-13 through the whole Gorge all day. Sunday starts with W 7-10 everywhere. As a low pressure system moves inland around 1pm, the wind picks up to rainy, gusty 20-30 from Multnomah Falls to the Dalles with 30-40 east of there.

Hood River Weather Forecast

It’s a beautiful sunny day, and it’s gonna stay that way! Temps are in the mid 20’s early and mid 50’s later. Light wind, no rainbows. Intermittent high clouds on Saturday give way to light rain after midnight. Watch for a pretty sunrise. Temps will be in the mid 30’s early and mid 50’s later. Light west wind. No rainbows. Sunday looks rainy. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and near 50 later. Very strong west wind. 100% chance of rainbows. 99% chance of double rainbows. Cycling

Syncline below the fence line will be dry. Above the fence line you will find freeze-thaw, especially on Hidden. Hospital Hill, Post, and Whoopdee will all have freeze-thaw in exposed areas. Please don’t ride through the mud. Turn around and go home and get your road or gravel bike so you don’t do permanent trail damage!
