There’s a mix of drizzle and snow on Mt. Hood this morning, really no surprise given the overall weather setup. It may be a sign that Mt. Hood needs a rest from the hoards of skiers who’ve been up taking advantage of the recent snow! Anyway, we’ll see an end to the precip by 10am, sunshine midday, clouds in the evening, and snow after midnight. The snow level will be 5500′ for much of the day, dropping to 4000′ this evening. We’ll see .3” water value (WV) tonight, for 3” or so of new snow. Wind today will be SW 15-20 all day, turning to SE 15 tonight. Continued after the chart.

Random Morning Thoughts
I’ve found myself spending a lot of time lately reflecting on anger, rage and resentment. These emotions, while not pleasant or productive, have a place in our emotional makeup for a reason. Unfortunately, when they’re activated, consciously or unconsciously, they color our perceptions of the world in negative ways. We tend to focus on aspects of conversations, readings, people, learnings, events, etc., that resonate with our anger and resentment. And that just adds fuel to the fire. It can be hard to get out of that mindstate. I propose that love is the way out.
One of the things I love so much about the Hakomi style of psychotherapy is its emphasis on loving presence. Not just support. Love. Hakomi suggests that one of the most powerful things we can do is find something, anything, to love about a person, and that will allow us, as therapists to be there for them no matter what.
I think we can take that same attitude towards life. Sure, some stuff is really shitty, and it’s hard to see anything to love. As a matter of fact, there are some situations where you’ll have to find something to love within yourself or outside the situation in order to cope. But as a general rule, if you can find something that sparks a little love in your heart, you’ll shift your focus ever so slightly from the negative to the positive. You’ll open your heart to learning, you’ll open your heart to healing, and you’ll open yourself to connecting with other people on a deeper, more authentic level.
Love doesn’t have to be a big thing. It can be a tiny thing. Go try it today. Pick something tiny to love about something or someone, and see how things change from that tiny little seed of awesome goodness. Have an awesome day.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
I went jogging in Post Canyon yesterday, and there’s no way in hell you’re riding there. Too snowy still. Syncline, as I mentioned yesterday, is okay on Maui and Moab, but definitely not okay on the doubletrack. So, be nice to the trail. Don’t go there if you aren’t willing to stay off the doubletrack. In other news, the Petersburg Loop east of The Dalles is always gravel-free and rideable. And Portland was 50 degrees yesterday. Riding there is always an option!
What’s the best way to help your muscles recover from a day on the mountain? A rejuvenating massage from Holistic Massage of Hood River. Specializing in injury treatment and pain relief, they’ll work out your knots and get you ready to go play in the snow again. Open 7 days a week and until 10 pm most evenings so you can fit massage into your busy lifestyle. Want to win a massage? You gotta be on the mailing list for that!
Upcoming Events
It’s Friday morning, and it’s 7:20 as I type this, meaning we’re all too late for the Kickstand Coffee Run that starts at 7am. Maybe you can do it next week. Jog 4.1 miles and earn a free cup of coffee and a donut. There’s a trail run tomorrow morning at 8am in Post Canyon, and the Cold Lap cyclocross ride leaves Dirty Fingers at 3pm on Saturday.
Have an awesome day today!
