Friday. Nothing below, Nothing above.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast I wrote the absolutely most amazing forecast on Thursday. Then I completely forgot to hit send on the email, meaning only the website users had a forecast. Ooops. Sorry. I’ll make today’s forecast doubly extra good to make up for it, okay? So, Friday is starting off cloudy and cold. We’ll…

Meet your forecaster: Temira

For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.

This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. With Temira’s guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and just plain have more fun! But the story doesn’t end there.

There’s “Temira’s Awesome Travel Advisory Service” and “Valuable Advice for Gardeners Inhabiting Neighboring Areas” – the Gorge’s premier microclimate forecast and gardening information. When winter storms, extreme heat, hail, or avalanches on SR-14 and I-84 threaten, TATAS keeps everyone and their tomatoes and giant pumpkins and cash crops safe.

Temira’s relentless efforts keep the forecasts flowing. But it ain’t easy: each forecast takes a couple of hours. That’s where you come in. By contributing, you’re not just supporting Temira’s passion project – you’re investing in the safety and well-being of the entire Gorge community. Your financial support ensures these essential forecasts remain accessible to all, free of charge.

So please take a moment to click one of the buttons below. Donate $19.99 or more (how much does this forecast enhance your life?) and get the email in your inbox. Or just contribute enough for a cup or pound of coffee. I need coffee! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Help me keep this labor of love alive, so we can all commute safely, play in the river, and shred Mt. Hood with the best weather forecasts possible. Thank you!

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

I wrote the absolutely most amazing forecast on Thursday. Then I completely forgot to hit send on the email, meaning only the website users had a forecast. Ooops. Sorry. I’ll make today’s forecast doubly extra good to make up for it, okay? So, Friday is starting off cloudy and cold. We’ll see clouds all day followed by a little bit of wet snow, mixed precip or sprinkles tonight. The snow level will be 500′ this morning and 6000′ to 6500′ when the precipitation is precipitating. Thankfully (practicing for Thanksgiving here), we’ll only see .1” water value (WV) or so, for a trace of new at best. Wind today will be SE 25 all day and SW 25 after 10pm. Continued after the chart…

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…

Saturday looks cloudy on the mountain with scattered raindrops that become less scattered and more concentrated after 4pm. The snow level will be 6500′ all day and 5500′ after midnight. We’ll see trace amounts of precipitation, not enough to impact you or the snowpack. Wind on Saturday will be SW 25 early, SSW 15 in the evening, and SW 25 after midnight. Meadows has a rail jam and pray for snow party on Saturday. Timberline has a pray for snow party at 10 Barrel Brewing on Saturday.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished

Sunday looks cloudy with scattered flurries during the day. That’ll be followed by snow overnight. The snow level will be 5000′ for the entire Sunday-to-Monday forecast period. We’ll see trace amounts during the day and .3-.5” WV overnight. With the snow level around 5000′, that should amount to 2-4” of new snow. Wind on Sunday will be SW 25 all day, turning to W 35 after midnight.

Monday currently looks snowy in the morning with clear sky in the afternoon and evening. The snow level will be 4000′ early and 2500′ after the weather system moves through. We’ll receive .4” WV or so during the day, for 3-5” of new snow. Wind on Monday will be W 30-35 all day. Looking at the rest of the week, we’ll see a mix of scattered snow and rain through Wednesday. Models currently predict a massive atmospheric river (not a Pineapple Express, mind you) on Thanksgiving. Several inches of WV are predicted with the snow level somewhere between 5000′ and 6500′. In other words, we need to wait and see how things shake out over the next 6 days before making a Thanksgiving prediction.

Random Morning Thoughts

I’m finding myself without much to say this morning, so I’ll just send out the forecast and leave you with this: you’re awesome. Have an awesome day!

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 51 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

It’s cloudy out there this morning, and not just the Nothing. High clouds are Nothinging the Nothing. See, even the Nothing suffers sometimes. Expect clouds all day with sprinkles after midnight. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and the upper 40’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Saturday looks cloudy with sprinkles in the morning, maybe. Temps will be in the mid 30’s early and the upper 40’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Sunday looks cloudy with raindrops during the day and light rain (maybe) after 4. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and the low 50’s in the afternoon. Light wind. 2% chance of rainbows.

Road and Mountain Biking

No, really. I went for a jog in Post yesterday, and it’s too wet to ride. There were all sorts of bike tracks through the mud, and the trails were starting to get hammered. If you must ride, ride the dirt roads. Or ride your road bike. Be nice to the trails, and show up for the work party on the Whoopdee tomorrow.

Upcoming Events

Today is Friday, and because I slept in, we’ve all missed the Kickstand Coffee and donut run. I made it once. Have you ever managed to earn your 7am free coffee and donut? Coming up tomorrow, there’s a work party at the Whoopdee Trail at 9am. The HRVHS ski swap is tomorrow. Meadows has a rail jam and pray for snow party at the resort tomorrow. Timberline has a pray for snow party at 10 Barrel Brewing in Portland tomorrow night, and they have a birthday party for their St. Bernard on Sunday. Free cake. Let them eat cake!

Have an awesome day today!

Temira
