Random Morning Thoughts

It’s Friday, thank goodness! I, like many of you, have a long day ahead of me. I suspect my coworkers and clients would prefer me showered than reflected, so I’ll leave you with this: have an awesome day!

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist, but I am seeing clients at this time. In the meantime, I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

Gorge Wind Forecast

For Friday, expect east wind near Rooster Rock at 55-60 all day. Stevenson should climb to 30-35, and Viento to 20-25. Saturday brings 50-55 at Rooster with 30ish at Stevenson and 20-25 at Viento. Expect 50-60 near Rooster Rock on Sunday. River temp is dropping fast – it’s currently 45 degrees.

Gorge Weather Forecast

I don’t have to go outside to tell you that the Nothing is here – it’s so much warmer on the mountain than it is in the valley that it’s almost guaranteed. I’m still going to hold out hope and get up and look. I looked. It’s Nothing. For Friday and Saturday, expect Nothing all day. Temps will be near 30 early and near 40 in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Sunday’s temps will be similar, but the GFS thinks we’ll have sunshine. I don’t feel so confident about that.

White Sprinter Van of the Week

Road and Mountain Biking

Once again, please don’t ride trails that are exposed to open air. Sub-freezing overnight temps and above-freezing daytime temps contribute to delicated freeze-thaw dirt and very muddy conditions. You will do major trail damage if you ride. Try a trail under the canopy for better results. Tomorrow night is the HRATS pump track fundraiser at Kickstand Coffee, and the 14th is their fundraiser at Double Mountain. In other news, the road biking will be east-windy today. Dress accordingly.

Upcoming Events

It’s Friday, and the Kickstand Coffee Run is at 7am. On Saturday, there’s an 8am trail run in Post Canyon. The second Saturday Contra Dance is at the Rockford Grange at 7pm tomorrow night, and the HRATS have a silent auction at Kickstand at 7pm on Saturday night.
