Winter Pledge Drive – Support this forecast!

Thank you for using this forecast. I do it as a gift to the community because I want all of you to have more fun in your lives. We’re all busy people, and having an idea of when the snow, wind or dirt will be good allows us to plan ahead. Although I receive occasional support from advertisers, the bulk of my support comes from the generosity of my readers. If you’ve been using this for years, if it’s helpful, brings more fun into your life, or makes you happier in some way, please donate. $12.34 or more gets the forecast delivered to your inbox for a year (I’ll protect your info). Anything over that makes both of us feel appreciative and appreciated, and also pays my grad school bills. Thanks for using the forecast, and thanks for your support. Mt. Hood Snow Forecast.

It’s a snowy morning on Mt. Hood, and the steady light snowfall will continue through noon, becoming heavier in the afternoon. The snow level today will be 2000′ early and 1000′ in the evening. We’ll see about .4” water value (WV) between this morning and 4pm, for about 4” of new snow. We’ll see another .2” overnight, for another couple inches of snow. Wind today will be SW 30 in the morning, turning to WSW 45 midday and a lift-swinging W 50 in the afternoon and evening.

Saturday starts off with some low and mid-level clouds that dissipate in the afternoon leaving sunny sky. The free air freezing level will be less than 1000′ all day. Wind will be NW 25 in the morning and light and variable in the afternoon.

Sunday looks clear, sunny, and increasingly warm. The free air freezing level will be near the surface in the morning with temps right at freezing up to 6000′. In the afternoon, the free air freezing level will rise to 8000′. Wind will be light SW all day on Sunday.

Monday looks clear and warm. The free air freezing level will be somewhere around 9000′ or 10,000′, and the wind will be light SW. The next precip in the forecast is for Wednesday, and it’s looking too warm to be snow.

Gorge Wind Forecast

Random Morning Thoughts

Most of us have a pattern in the way we come to a decision or resolve something that happens to us. We may think about things, write about them, talk to friends, meditate on a question, pray, do art, etc. While our chosen method of working through things probably works most of the time, sometimes we get stuck.

When that happens, it’s worth trying out a different approach. For example, if you usually think through situations, try writing about what’s going on or drawing a picture. If you tend to figure things out on your own, talk to a trusted friend.

By switching our process, we involve different areas of our minds. In doing so, we may find a fresh perspective from within. Or from without, if we’ve chosen to reach out to another person. Speaking to the bigger picture, when you’re feeling stuck around something, trying something new is almost always a good idea – being stuck is about our current approach not working. A new approach can shift things. You’re awesome. Have an awesome day.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.
