How close is Portland to ski resorts?
Portland has six ski areas within 75 miles. All miles listed are from Portland International Airport (PDX). Timberline Lodge is 59 miles from Portland. Mt. Hood Meadows is 64 miles. Summit Ski area is 53 miels. Skibowl is 53 miles from Portland. Cooper Spur is 75 or 85 miles from Portland depending on whether you go via I-84 or 26. Teacup Nordic ski area is 64 miles from Portland.
Where do people ski near Portland?
People from Portland and Vancouver metro area ski at Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows, Summit Ski Area, Skibowl, Cooper Spur, and do groomed Nordic or XC or skate skiing at Teacup and Meadows Nordic. People also drive from Portland to Mt. Bachelor, Willamette Pass, and Hoodoo.
How do you spend a day on Mount Hood?
Depends on the season! In the winter, you can go skiing at Meadows, Timberline, Skibowl, or you can Nordic / XC ski at Teacup or Meadows Nordic. In the spring, summer, and fall, there are lots of hiking and mountain biking trails on Mt. Hood.
How do I get to Mt. Hood from Portland without a car?
There are many ways to get to Mt. Hood without a car. You can get to Gateway Transit Center and take the CAT bus to Hood River and then the Gorge to Mountain Express from Hood River. An annual pass for the 24-25 ski season is $40. Mt. Hood Meadows offers park n’ ride buses and ride share options. Timberline also has some options for you to get to Mount Hood without driving. There are Facebook groups that offer ride sharing, and sometimes people hitchhike to Mt. Hood. Some of these services get suspended when the weather shuts down the resorts, so check my forecast before you go!
