Good morning Gorge sports fanatics! First off the ski report. This morning at Timberline, it’s 24 degrees with cloudy skies, 1” of new snow, no precipitation and a 162” base. Over at Meadows, where you can experience pure mountain fun, it’s partly cloudy, 24 degrees with a 133 inch base. Skibowl’s open tomorrow night for…
Meet your forecaster: Temira
For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.
This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. With Temira’s guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and just plain have more fun! But the story doesn’t end there.
There’s “Temira’s Awesome Travel Advisory Service” and “Valuable Advice for Gardeners Inhabiting Neighboring Areas” – the Gorge’s premier microclimate forecast and gardening information. When winter storms, extreme heat, hail, or avalanches on SR-14 and I-84 threaten, TATAS keeps everyone and their tomatoes and giant pumpkins and cash crops safe.
Temira’s relentless efforts keep the forecasts flowing. But it ain’t easy: each forecast takes a couple of hours. That’s where you come in. By contributing, you’re not just supporting Temira’s passion project – you’re investing in the safety and well-being of the entire Gorge community. Your financial support ensures these essential forecasts remain accessible to all, free of charge.
So please take a moment to click one of the buttons below. Donate $19.99 or more (how much does this forecast enhance your life?) and get the email in your inbox. Or just contribute enough for a cup or pound of coffee. I need coffee! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Help me keep this labor of love alive, so we can all commute safely, play in the river, and shred Mt. Hood with the best weather forecasts possible. Thank you!

Skibowl’s open tomorrow night for night skiing, and tickets are just $15. I still don’t see a powder day in the forecast, but there is a cool event at Meadows this weekend: the Candygrind rail jam benefits SOS outreach’s youth outdoors programs, so sign up and get ready to rip for a good cause.
The wind forecast today is light. Very light wind this morning gives way to light east winds this afternoon as an upper level low rotates off the coast. Tomorrow looks quite light. Next chance for west winds is Friday afternoon.
On the mountain bike front, it’s muddy in Post, muddy on Coyote and wildflowery on Syncline. So, if you’re going to ride, front side Hospital and Syncline are your choices today.
In other news, the Calypso orchids are out, and that’s good news for mushroom hunters who can tell the difference between a pinecone and dinner. Watch for ticks if you’re out in the woods. They’re out in force!
Boaters, the Hood’s at 4.1, the White Salmon’s at 4.1 feet, and the Little White’s at 740 cfs. And don’t forgt, tomorrow night is the Kayak Shed’s weekly paddle and pint. Meet at the shop at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon…
