Good morning everyone! Up on Mt. Hood this morning, there are partly cloudy skies everywhere and no precipitation anywhere. At T-Line, it’s 42 degrees, at Meadows it’s 38, and at Skibowl it’s 47. Nobody has any new snow this morning, and everyone’s expecting partly cloudy skies today. At Meadows, there’s a rail jam in the…
Meet your forecaster: Temira
For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.
This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. With Temira’s guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and just plain have more fun! But the story doesn’t end there.
There’s “Temira’s Awesome Travel Advisory Service” and “Valuable Advice for Gardeners Inhabiting Neighboring Areas” – the Gorge’s premier microclimate forecast and gardening information. When winter storms, extreme heat, hail, or avalanches on SR-14 and I-84 threaten, TATAS keeps everyone and their tomatoes and giant pumpkins and cash crops safe.
Temira’s relentless efforts keep the forecasts flowing. But it ain’t easy: each forecast takes a couple of hours. That’s where you come in. By contributing, you’re not just supporting Temira’s passion project – you’re investing in the safety and well-being of the entire Gorge community. Your financial support ensures these essential forecasts remain accessible to all, free of charge.
So please take a moment to click one of the buttons below. Donate $19.99 or more (how much does this forecast enhance your life?) and get the email in your inbox. Or just contribute enough for a cup or pound of coffee. I need coffee! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Help me keep this labor of love alive, so we can all commute safely, play in the river, and shred Mt. Hood with the best weather forecasts possible. Thank you!

At Meadows, there’s a rail jam in the Shipyard park to benefit SOS Outreach, a cool charity that gets kids involved in the outdoors. Over at skibowl, it’s the next to last day… Tomorrow is ski free day, a great chance to check out a different resort for free!
If you’re a mountain biker, today is your chance to give back by helping out at Charley Laventure trail day. Charley was a good man, and he would be stoked if you were out working on his trail. So, spare a few hours this morning, and go work on the trail… as added incentive, you might go home with some cool swag from Da Kine.
Commuters have the supercommuter bike race today – meet at 10am at the Saturday Market parking lot to register, and don’t forget to wear a costume.
In the wind world, we’ll see corridor westerlies in the 15-19 range this afternoon as a front crosses the Cascades. Tomorrow looks like, but as consolation, you can visit the Windance all-sports swap meet in the morning and talk about windsurfing and kiteboarding.
That’s it for today for more information about the events, check out the calendar at TheGorgeismyGym.com (shameless self-promotion).
