This morning’s ski report has a couple inches of new at both Meadows and Timberline, where the dusting of new should be enough to turn the groom into packed powder, with dust on crust off the groom. With the snow level at 2000’ today and northwest wind blowing across the mountain, there will likely be more afternoon snow flurries on Mt. Hood today with another inch or so of new.
The next couple of days bring more NW wind with partly cloudy to sunny skies on the mountain. It looks like there’s a pretty good chance of significant snow Saturday night into Sunday, so keep that in mind if you’re hoping for one more powder day this season.
We’ll see wind on the mountain all day, but Gorge wind is going to be hindered by high pressure today. The early gradient is at .05, which is enough for 10-15 near Hood River. I think we’ll see another round of 15-18 this afternoon from Stevenson to Hood River. Tomorrow looks windier in the afternoon, but will start off light with another cold morning. West winds pick up early tomorrow afternoon, building to 17-21 from Stevenson to Doug’s in the afternoon.
The mountain biking report is a happy one today. Yesterday’s riders report near-perfect conditions in Post Canyon, but if you’re headed to the Washington side to ride Hospital Hill, make sure you leave your dogs at home because the cows are out. It’s also very poopy over there, so leave your squeamishness at home.
If you want to paddle, the Hood’s around 5.5 feet, the Klickitat’s at 2700 cfs and the White Salmon is at 4 feet even.
Finally, this week is the first week for the Hood River Yacht Club’s Wednesday night race series, and it’s also the first week for the Post and Pint ride out of Dirty Fingers on Thursday.
