It’s going to be another beautiful day on Mt. Hood. If you’re looking for a tan, or at least for some sunshine, the ski slopes (or the backcountry) are the place you’ll find what you want. The free air freezing level will be around 8000′ all day today, and temps at 5000′ are going to max out in the low 40’s or so. Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…
Sunday starts off with clear sky, and will most likely stay sunny through sunset. Clouds move in during the evening, and a few sprinkles or flurries may fall overnight. Or maybe not. Don’t expect any real accumulation of snow or raindrops. The snow level on Sunday will be 9500′ in the morning, falling to 5000-5500′ after midnight. Max temps at 5000′ will be in the low 40’s in the morning, falling during the day. Wind will be SW 15 for much of the day, becoming W 10-15 overnight.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished
Monday sees a mix of sprinkles and flurries and dry air in the morning, partly cloudy sky in the afternoon, and light snow or rain overnight. Models are all over the place starting Tuesday morning, so it’s really hard to say what will happen. Anyway, it currently looks like the snow level will be between 5500′ and 6000′ for most of Monday. After that, things really depend on the cold air – warm air battle that will take place over WA and OR.
Models are trending warm and wet on Wednesday and Thursday, with temps too warm to support snow at 5000′. I think that’s a good broad-brush picture of what’s going to happen. The exact snow level and quantity of rain is really going to depend on the exact storm track. Guess we’ll just wait and see!

East wind at 40-50 this morning fades to E 30-35 this afternoon. East wind at 20-25 Sunday morning turns to light west wind in the afternoon. The wind will be light and variable Monday and Tuesday.

Random Morning Thoughts
I just got done reading the news about the executive order banning all refugees and citizens from seven predominantly Muslim nations. I’m in tears. I feel sick to my stomach.
All the world’s religions teach compassion. “Love thy brother,” says the Christian tradition. “Cultivate karuna (compassion),” suggests the Buddha. Islam believes in the oneness (tawhid) of all humans and Allah, encouraging compassion toward each person.
We may live in different nations, we may believe different things, we may look dissimilar. But our actions impact people around us, even people who are distantly related to us. Remember the concept of six degrees of separation? We are all connected to each other.
A butterfly flapping its wings in Oregon could theoretically impact the weather in Siberia. A choice by an American to support Trump’s decision to ban refugees and visitors will cause the death of children all across the world. This is inhumane, wrong, immoral, unethical, and completely unacceptable. We are better than this. We can think less about ourselves and more about our planetary community. It is our duty, no matter our religious tradition or moral upbringing. #somosuno #notmypresident

Sunday despite model claims of clear sky, will likely have Nothing. There’s a slight chance of sprinkles or snowflakes overnight. Temps will be in the low to mid 30’s. East wind switches to light west in the afternoon. No rainbows. Monday looks like Nothing again with partly cloudy sky in the afternoon. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and mid to upper 30’s later. Light and variable wind. No rainbows.
