An upper level slow slides across southern Washington today, keeping gorge westerlies blowing. While you’re out on the water today, just for once, hope for lighter winds to help out the firefighters and everyone else in Mosier.
Winds aren’t going to be very consistent, and thankfully for everyone involved with the wildfire, not too strong today, as a pool of cold air holds over the Northwest. The early gradient was at .07, and winds were in the low teens. So, I think we’ll see 17-21 early from Rowena out to Arlington, backing up into the corridor and filling in out to Maryhill and building to 22-25 this afternoon.
As high pressure builds at the coast tomorrow, winds shift back to the corridor. Low teens to start seems pretty reasonable, building into the Upper teens to low twenties later in the day.
Monday’s looking windy too… not stellar, but just enough west wind to get on the water with a big sail or a kite.
If you’re looking for something else to do today, there’s my pick, the Bigfoot Bash and Bounty in Home Valley. There are bands and a monster carnival and a scavenger hunt. Also today is Pacific Crest trail days in Cascade Locks. There’s a PCT work party, live music and a photography exhibit. After all that, from 7 to 10 tonight, head over to Windance for a kiter party after the women’s kite clinic.
Whatever you do today, have an awesome day!
