Good morning!
I am issuing a full-on tack alert for lower Post Canyon. Seven Streams is in great shape right now. Hospital Hill is reportedly in even better shape. I’m also issuing a full-on thank you to the person or persons who did the re-route on the Toilet Bowl downhill. Rumor is that was Ranger Jim. So, thank you Ranger Jim. Anyone else who may have helped, please stand up and identify yourself.
Also, a quick surf alert. Offshore winds today combine with 7 feet @ 12 seconds for epic conditions. Tomorrow, 11 feet @ 16 with offshore winds. Enough said.
While I’m issuing alerts, here’s another: Easterly alert. It’s blowing 32 in Stevenson right now, with the gradient at .18. That means it’s probably 40 at Rooster Rock. It’s also bitterly cold, but if you’re desperate enough for windsurfing, that doesn’t really matter.
East winds hold tomorrow, back off on Friday, and return for the weekend. We might see some westerlies late Friday afternoon, and we’ll definitely see coast northerlies on Friday. Looks like the coastal northerlies will continue through the weekend, giving Trudy and her pals another chance at photos and videos from the coast.
In ski news, there was wacky weather at Meadows this morning. 20 degrees at the base and 35 degrees. That’s 15 degrees inversion in about 1250 feet. Crazy. As for incoming snow, the forecast isn’t looking great. There’s just not much moisture headed our way until the middle of next week. Thankfully, the groomers are doing a bang-up job on the slopes, keeping the cruising good. I’ve been going up just to keep my legs in shape for when the powder does hit. I recommend you do the same. Plus, the slopes are above the gloomy inversion clouds! =)
Have a great day today!
