Good morning!

This week’s sponsor is Cascade Acupuncture Center. Come by Cascade Acupuncture Center at 104 5th Street between 5-7pm tonight for Business After Hours in celebration of the CAC 5 year anniversary! Food by Knead Bakery, music by Jazz Guitarist Charles Crosman, wine tasting by The Pines Winery, beer by Full Sail Brewing, FREE chair massage by Tamiko Graffius, LMT, ribbon cutting at the extensive Chinese Herbal Pharmacy, free Chinese medical pulse diagnosis, free tote bags, and last, but not least, a raffle for free treatments and herbs. I know you don’t have anything going on tonight between 5 and 7pm, so get down there!

Good morning! It’s a light wind, cloudy start to the day as Mother Nature takes summer by the rays of sunshine and shakes hard in preparation for a rainy few days. There’s a front approaching today, and that’s going to turn gradients onshore in a few hours. Keep an eye on Stevenson and the Hatchery first for 18-22, followed by a quick jump to 22-24 at Stevenson, Mosier, Rowena and all the beaches further east. There’s a decent chance of 24-26 at Stevenson and Arlington.

Rain, or at least sprinkles, moves in tomorrow, with a tenth of an inch or so near Hood River and more in the mountains. Saturday looks tropically wet, with 1-1.5” in the mountains and a half-inch or more in the Gorge. Rain showers continue Sunday, and snow levels plummet in the mountain.

The change of temperature as the front passes on Sunday will give us a big windy day out in the desert (this forecast has been confirmed by an unnamed NWS forecaster).

For off-the-water entertainment this week, there’s Business After Hours at Cascade Acupuncture Center today from 5-7pm (snacks, acupuncture, freebies, and other cool stuff), and Interesting at the Mosier School at 7pm on Friday. Interesting was great fun last year, and I highly recommend everyone go this year. It’s only $5.

On Saturday from 9-12, there’s a CGWA beach cleanup at the Hatchery. If you come out and brave the rain, you’ll be rewarded with lots of free swag from Da Kine. Many thanks to Da Kine for sponsoring work parties, and thanks to CGWA for organizing.

Have a awesome day today!

Good morning!

This week’s sponsor is Cascade Acupuncture Center. During the month of October, Cascade Acupuncture Center will offer all Happy Hour Acupuncture treatments in the Hood River Clinic on a sliding scale fee of $15-$35, and will donate 100% to the Hood River Save Our Library Committee – www.saveourlibrary.net. Happy Hour Treatments, offered M-W-F-Sa in Hood River, are 40 minute focus treatments to address stress, boost energy and immune system, and increase your overall happiness. Call 541-387-4325 to schedule.

Good morning! It’s going to be another lovely day, possibly one of the last to work on your tan lines for a while, so I recommend you set aside an hour or two between noon and three to absorb some vitamin D. Recent studies show that you can stock up on enough vitamin D during the summer to last you through the winter (no, that is not a joke).

If you can bear the chilly morning east winds (it was 41 degrees at 7am), head to Home Valley, Stevenson or Rooster this morning. You’ll find upper twenties at Rooster and 23-27 everywhere else. The wind is going to die hard and fast today, so get out there early for the steadiest, strongest wind.

It looks like the westerlies will return tomorrow as a front moves toward Oregon. You know the story: frontal winds are gusty and unreliable, but I think you’ll be on the water by midday tomorrow with upper teens early building to mid twenties later. The longest-lived and strongest wind will likely be at Stevenson, with very gusty conditions at the Sandbar. The Hatch should be decent for a couple of hours in the early afternoon. Later in the day, the wind will shift east.

Friday looks light, with a slight chance of rain. If models hold for the weekend, we’re going to see .25-.5” of rain each day. That pisses me off, because I want to go look for chanterelles and porcinis and matsutake.

For off-the-water entertainment this week, there’s Kayak Polo from 8:00-9:30 at the Hood River Pool tonight, $8 per session or $40 for the season, Business After Hours at Cascade Acupuncture Center on Thursday from 5-7pm (snacks, acupuncture, freebies, and other cool stuff), and Interesting at the Mosier School at 7pm on Friday. Interesting was great fun last year, and I highly recommend everyone go this year. It’s only $5.

Coming up this weekend, there’s a CGWA work party at the Hatchery from 9-noon Saturday.

Have a awesome day today!
