This is a quick forecast this morning. Maybe more to come later.

Today looks cold and snowy and windy on Mt. Hood. Light flurries fall through 7am, becoming moderate after that for the rest of the day. The snow level will be at 1000’. Winds today will be W 30-40 early, falling to W 20-30 by 4pm and holding overnight. Total accumulation 4am today through 4am tomorrow will be 1-1.5” water value for 12-14” of new snow.

Moderate snowfall continues through 7am tomorrow, becoming light during the day and picking up again between 4pm and 10pm. Winds tommorow will be W 20-30 to start, becoming light and variable by 1pm, and switching to E 10-15 by 7pm. Total accumulation tomrorow will be around .5” water value for 4-6” of new snow.

Friday looks dry and cold with a few lingering clouds in the morning. Winds will be E 10-15 early, going to NE 15-20 late in the day.

Saturday starts off sunny and cold, with clouds moving in early afternoon. Winds will be light to start, at W 5-10, building to WNW 30-35 by 4pm, and going to WNW 40 by 7pm. Snow starts falling around 7pm, continuing through 10am Sunday for 4-5” of new.

Mountain Weather Forecast

This is the kind of forecast that’s fun to write. =)

Today looks snowy. Tomorrow looks more snowier. Thursday looks snowy too. Friday and Saturday look sunny. Sunday through Tuesday look snowy again.

Stormy conditions today will make for great powder riding. Winds early will be WSW 30-35, switching to WNW 35-45 around 10am. Light snow flurries early will pick up around 10am, becoming moderate through 1am. Total accumulation will be around 1” water value, or 10-13” of snow by 4am tomorrow. Most of that will fall before 10pm. The snow level will be around 500-1000’.

There will be a brief lull in snowfall tonight between 1am and 4am before snowfall picks up again between 4am-7am, filling the pristine parking lots with powder. Moderate snowfall during the day tomorrow brings .75” water value during the day, for 8-10” of light powder, Total snowfall between 4am Wednesday and 4am Thursday will be 1.25” of water value or so, for 12-15” of new snow. Winds tomorrow will be WNW 30-35 early, going to WSW 30-35 around 10am. The snow level starts around 1000’, falling to the surface in the evening and bringing snow to the valleys by Thursday morning.

Thursday looks snowy everywhere, with moderate snowfall through 1pm, then tapering off as high pressure starts to build in. We’ll see about .5” water value between midnight and 1pm, for 6-8” of new snow in the mountains. Winds will be WNW 15-25 early, going to SW 10-15 by 4pm. The snow level will be at the surface.

Friday looks partly cloudy with snow flurries early, ending by noon. Winds will be light and variable on Friday. Saturday looks clear, cold, calm and very busy on the mountain. Snow stats falling again by midday Sunday, giving us powder on Monday and Tuesday. The snow level will remain around 1000’ for this period.
