Good morning!

Today is going to be a beautiful day, easily the best day until next week, so if there’s any way you can get out and enjoy the sun today, do it!

This nice weather is the result of high pressure on both sides of the Cascades, and that will give us east wind through the Gorge today. We’ll see 17-21 by mid-morning with a brief period of 22-25 from Rooster Rock to Stevenson today. From Hood River eastward, we’ll have light wind until the afternoon, when easterlies pick up into the 5-10 range.

As a front moves in tonight, clouds and cool weather return along with west wind. The wind will be 16-19 tomorrow morning from Hood River to Mosier, shifting east in the afternoon and picking up to 23-26 from Rowena to Arlington.

Friday looks cool and cloudy, with light west wind. If you’re looking ahead to the weekend, it looks cool and cloudy, with west wind on the river and snow in the mountains.

Events for the rest of the week include sailboat racing this evening, but unless the wind does something unexpected, that race won’t happen. Tomorrow night is the Post and Pint, but Post was pretty muddy yesterday afternoon, so cross your fingers for no more rain and some wind to dry it out. If you’re in Portland tomorrow night, the surfrider foundation is having a surf movie fundraiser at the Clinton Street Theatre. And finally, Friday is First Friday in Hood River, so make plans to be downtown in the evening.

Have an awesome day today!

Good morning,

Yesterday was a chilly day in the Gorge, and today will be chilly too, with clouds giving way to sunbreaks this afternoon. West winds will be in the 17-21 range from Mosier to Arlington this morning, building to 22-25 from Mosier to Maryhill this afternoon and becoming gusty as the wind switches from west to northwest. Wind in the western gorge, from Stevenson to Hood River will be gusty 15-18.

High pressure builds tonight, for east winds tomorrow. Morning wind looks light, with a mid-morning peak in the 17-20 range at Stevenson and Rooster, fading quickly to very light west wind in the afternoon. With the high pressure tomorrow, we’ll see sunshine and temperatures near 70.

A weak front pushes in Thursday, bringing clouds and west wind. Light wind in the morning builds to low twenties in the afternoon.

In the events world, tonight is the season opener of the ladies’ standup paddle club at Big Winds. Head to the shop for prizes, happy hour and gift bags… sorry guys, this one is ladies only. Tomorrow is sailboat racing day, but if the wind forecast holds, there’s a pretty good chance there won’t be enough wind for the races. Coming up Thursday, it’s the Post and Pint ride from Dirty Finger Bike Repair in Hood River, and if you’re in Portland, the Surfrider Foundation has a surf movie fundraiser night at the Clinton Street Theatre. And finally, Friday is First Friday in Hood River, and towns been pretty busy this week, so it should be a busy, fun first Friday!

Have a great day today!
