Good morning!
I had such high hopes when the big blob on the radar image started crawling east around 3pm yesterday, but sadly, it dissipated just west of us, leaving us high and dry with only an inch of new.
Mt. Hood has clear skies as of 5am, but will quickly see a transition to cloudy skies in a few hours, with snow starting around noon. We’ll see .9” WV tonight, for 10-13” of new snow with the snow level at 1500’ early, rising to 3000’ overnight, and dropping back to 1000’ by Friday morning. Winds will be SW 15-20 early, rising to SW 25-35 by noon and going to WSW 40-50 by 4pm.
Tomorrow morning looks dry and clear with the freezing level around 1000’. Winds will be W 35-40 early, going to NW 20-30 by 10am and fading to light and variable by 4pm.
Sunday will either be clear or with high clouds, but one model run shows a warm front clipping the mountain for light sprinkles, up to .1” WV, during the day. In other words, anything could happen. =) Anyway, the freezing level will be around 6500’, rising to 8500’ overnight. Winds will be SW 30-40 early, fading to SW 20-30 in the afternoon. With the strong inversion Sunday, any precip will fall as freezing rain in the Gorge.
Sunday will start off cloudy, with precip starting by 1pm. The snow level will be 8500’ early, falling to 4000’ by 1pm and 2500’ by 4pm. My guess is this will start off as light rain and switch to snow. We’ll see .6” WV, for 4-6” of new snow. Easterly flow through the Gorge looks minimal on Sunday, so this will likely be a rain event at low elevations.
In the long term forecast, models can’t really agree. Monday looks dry on all of them. One model shows mountain snow Tue/Wed, and the other shows dry weather Mon-Fri.
Have an awesome day today!
