I hope you all like sun. We’ll see sun on Mt. Hood today with N wind at 20-30 early, fading to 15-20 in the afternoon. The free air freezing level (FAF) will be 5000’ early, rising to 6500’ in the afternoon.

Tomorrow looks sunny, with N wind at 5-10 early, going to NW 10-15 in the afternoon. The FAF will be 9000’.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy as a system swings along the coast. Mt. Hood wind will be NW 20-25 early, going to NW 10-15 in the afternoon. The FAF will be 8500’ early, going to 6500’ in the afternoon.

Models are finally showing some hint of this high pressure system dissipating early next week. Until then, pray for snow.

If you’re looking for wind in the Gorge, there’s nothing spectacular on the way. We’ll see easterlies today at 18-21, westerlies tomorrow and Wednesday at 17-20 and easterlies on Thursday at 15-18.

Your Mt. Hood forecast includes another week of sun. Today sees the freezing level affected yet again by north wind, with temperatures fluctuating all over the place. In theory, the freezing level should be 3000’, falling to 1000’, but I just don’t see that happening. Call it temps just above freezing today. Winds will be N 15-20 early, going to NE 20-30 in the afternoon.

The freezing level starts at the surface tomorrow, rising to 6000’ by 4pm as a strong inversion sets up. Winds will be E 10-20 early, fading to light and variable in the afternoon.

Tuesday sees the freezing level around 9000’, with W wind at 5-10 early, picking up to NW 10-20 by 4pm. The weather gets really exciting on Wednesday afternoon as some high clouds break up the monotony of endless blue sky.

No precipitation in the forecast through next week.

I suggest you dust off your mountain bike or road bike and start riding it. Or if you like being cold and wet in the Columbia, you’ll have west wind today at 15-18 early, going to E at 17-20 later. Tomorrow brings E wind at 24-28 at Stevenson and Rooster. Tuesday brings westerlies at 15-18 and Wednesday starts off with easterlies at 15-18. Back and forth and back and forth. Best chance for the evil inversion cloud will be Monday and Tuesday.
