6/13 Forecast

Good morning,

It looks like summer is at least another week away, as we have a cool and cloudy week on tap. Along with the cool, we’ll have west winds. Today will be light in the morning, picking up to 14-17 near Hood River in the afternoon, but building to the 24-27 range from Rowena east to Arlington.

Tomorrow looks windy too, and it’s also going to be the sunniest day of the week as we’ll be between weather systems. The wind will blow in the 21-24 range from Stevenson to Mosier starting mid-morning, filling in at Rowena and possibly Maryhill in the afternoon.

The Clymb: free membership.
Access to super cheap gear including Trew, Zeal, Sierra Designs, and many more.

On Wednesday, high pressure off the coast will give us 20-23 in the morning east of Hood River, picking up to 26-30 in the afternoon from Mosier out to Maryhill.

The alternative ride has been delayed so far this year due to cold weather, but it’s on for tonight, despite the chill in the air. Meet at Mountain View Cycles at 6:15 for a ride to Mosier and back, with a long stop at the Thirsty Woman. Everyone is welcome on this ride, but your spandex and clipless pedals are not welcome.

Tomrorow night, weather permitting, is the free ladies standup paddle night at the Event Site. It might be too windy for it to happen, so check Bigwinds.com around 4:30 to find out if it’s on or not.

Looking ahead to next Saturday, there’s a work party in Post Canyon, the White Salmon Backyard half marathon, and the Master Gardeners’ Garden Tour. Next Saturday is also world naked bike ride day, with the naked bike ride in Portland starting at 8pm.

Have an awesome day today!

6/12 Forecast

Good morning,

We have more west wind on tap today, although the clouds will burn off faster than yesterday, giving us lighter west wind. 10-15 is the call this morning, building to 17-21 near Hood River by midday, and then shifting to Stevenson and Arlignton late as a system approaches the coast.

Tomorrow sees a light start with low pressure off the coast. By afternoon, low pressure moves east, kicking the wind up to 13-16 from Stevenson to Hood River and 17-20 from Rowena to Arlington.

Tuesday and Wednesday look windier, with mid-twenties or so, as high pressure off the coast combines with that low in the desert for strong pressure gradients.

The Clymb: free membership. Super cheap gear. Temira approves

There’s more good news today from your friendly Forest Service Bike Ranger, Jimmy T. He reports that Knebal Springs, Bottle Prarie and the Da Kine trail are all clear of logs and rideable. May thanks to all the volunteers who got out there with handsaws and helped clear the trails. They are rough in spots, but they’re ready to go. Surveyor’s still has logs down. Again, just a couple of quick reminders, today is the Dog River Enduro, so consider Dog River closed, and Hospital Hill is closed for approximately two weeks starting tomorrow. Oh, and one last thing: there’s a work party in Post next weekend to open the Mobius trail, a new cross country trail, so make plans to be there for that.

Coming up tomorrow, it’s the first Alternative Ride of the season. Meet at Mountain View Cycles at 6pm for a casual ride to Mosier and back with a long stop at the Thirsty Woman. Please, if you’re coming, lights and helmets are required and spandex and clipless pedals are discouraged.

Have an awesome day today!
