Good morning!
Not much to say about today on Mt. Hood, other than, “It’s beautiful up here.” Clear, cool and calm. Freezing level at 1000’ or lower. Rising to 2000’ in the evening, with winds picking up to SW 15-20.

Tomorrow starts off with the snow level at 2000’, slowly rising to 4500’ by 10pm. Wind will be SW 25-35 early, rising to SW 35-45 by 10am. Precip starts around 7am, with .2-.3” water value before 4pm, for 3-4” of new snow. We’ll see another .5” by 4am Tuesday, for a couple inches of wet snow switching to rain.

By 4am Tuesday, the snow level will be at 6000’, meaning we’ll see rain at the base. The snow level will rise to 8000’+ by 4pm. Winds will be SW 50-60+. Heavy rain will start around 2pm, remaining heavy through midnight or later. Total rainfall depends on the track of this system, but 2” is not out of the question (NOAA is calling for 3-8” in the coast range).

The snow level will be down to 5000’ by 1am Wednesday, 4000’ by 7am, with heavy snowfall and SW wind at 40-50 with a foot or more of new snow during the day.

Have a great day today. Enjoy the sun!

Good morning!

Well, this system has certainly dumped way more snow than either NOAA or I predicted, and that’s a good thing! We’ll see more snow today with the snow level around 500’ and W wind at 10-20mph on Mt. Hood. With the snow level that low, the .3-.4” of precipitation should give us 5-6” of additional snow.

Models tomorrow have the snow level at sea level, with anything from a dry day to .25” of moisture on tap. Expect partly cloudy skies on the mountain with occasional flurries and light wind.

Monday monring sees the snow level at 3000’ with an incoming system. The snow level will rise to 5000’ by 4pm. Expect snow in the Gorge with this system as well. Models are all over the place, predicting .4-1.0” of moisture, so let’s call it 5-7” of new snow. Mt. hood wind on Monday will be SW 15-20 early, rising to SW 25-35 by 4pm.

As an early heads up, Tuesday doesn’t look pretty. By Tuesday morning, the snow level will be at 5000’, with SW wind at 30-40, rising to 40-50+ by 7am. By 7am, the snow level will be at 6000-6500’, rising to 7000’ in the evening. Total precip with this system will be .5-1.5”, depending on the storm track. It will fall as wet snow early, becoming rain by 9am.

Have an awesome day today!
