Good morning,

First off, please help me out today. Go to this link, scroll over the photo, and click the green thumbs up. It has to happen today. I just found out. Thank you!

Oh wow what a day it’ll be! Everyone enjoy the gorgeous weather today. It’s going to be a perfect day to get out on a bike. Or work in the garden. Last frost day for Hood River proper was April 20th, and I’m not seeing any frost in the next week, at least at city level. I’m going for it with the tomatoes this afternoon.

Don’t tire yourself out too much. Tonight at Columbia Center for the Arts, it’s Andrew Shurka, explorer extraordinaire. You don’t want to miss this one. It’s armchair traveling at its best! 7pm. $10. Well worth it.

In the meantime, there’s the Whoopdee/Post work party this morning. Meet at 8:30am at 10 Speed Roastery. There’s the Trout Lake run, benefiting the Trout Lake School. There’s annual cleanup day at the Discovery Center in The Dalles (this one earns you free lunch and movie tickets). Tomorrow is a CGORA moto ride at Pine Mont, and it’s the annual weeding party at the Hood River Waterfront Park. If you’d like to adopt a plot, there are still some available.

Enough events. Weather. It’s going to be perfect. Warm and sunny. Finally!

On Mt. Hood: The freezing level will be 11,000′ all day, with SW wind at 15-25. Tomorrow: 12,000′, SW wind at 10-15. Monday: 12,000′, SW 10-15, possibly a few showers and/or thunderstorms Monday afternoon into Monday night. Tuesday, partly cloudy, 11,000′ and SW wind at 15-20.

In the Gorge: Today: light east wind. Tomorrow: light east wind. Monday: probably more wind than models predict. West at 10-15 early and 22-26 near Hood River in the afternoon.

Have a great day today!

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast – 5000′

Saturday
Sunday

Good morning,

Well, it’s raining again on Mt. Hood. The freezing level is around 7500′. It’ll rise to 9000′ this afternoon. Wind will be W 30-40, dropping to 20-30 in the afternoon. It’ll rain all morning, with .1-.3” total precip, ending by 2-5pm. Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday look sunny on Mt. Hood. The freezing level will be 10,000′ Saturday with SW wind at 15-25. Sunday and Monday see the freezing level at 12,000′ with SW wind at 10-15.

In the wind forecast, today brings afternoon westerlies at 10-15 near Hood River, probably filling in out east also. Tomorrow brings east wind at 10-15 and Sunday brings east wind at 15-18.

Basically, the weekend looks sunny and warm, with highs nearing 70 degrees. It’s going to be perfect weather for road biking and mountain biking.

Speaking of mountain biking, please consider helping out with the Whoopdee work party tomorrow (some work happening in Post Canyon too). We’re sorely lacking in trails right now, and it will be awesome to have a brand new trail. Meet at 10 Speed Roastery (13th and State) tomorrow morning. Bring water and snacks, although there will be a few bagels and cream cheese from HR Bagels and Rosauers.

In other events, tonight is a Dimwits ride at the Cascade Locks EasyCLIMB trail. Team Tarkio presents a kayaking slide show at the Pint Shack. Tomorrow is the Trout Lake Run (a race), benefiting the Trout Lake School. In big, cool event news, National Geographic explorer Andrew Shurka will be at Columbia Center for the Arts tomorrow night presenting on his travels in the Yukon.

On Sunday, the Columbia Gorge Offroad Association has a moto ride at Pinemont. It’s also Earth Day, and HR’s Earth Day tradition is the annual weeding party at the Waterfront Park. Be there.

Wow. That’s a lot of stuff going on. Have a great day.

Have a great day today!
