Once again, we’re going to have a strong easterly day through the Gorge. This morning’s gradient is .15, so expect 30+ at both Rooster and Stevenson by 10am, holding through noon or 1pm before become gusty, but still pretty windy. Just a note: it’s 38 degrees right now, so you may want to wait a little bit. Tomorrow brings 30+ at Rooster early, with 24-28 at Stevenson. By noon or so, the wind should start backing off.
The wind looks pretty light Monday through Wednesday.
In very exciting weather news, long-term forecast models are hinting at a pattern change at the end of next week. They’re suggesting that a closed offshore low will swing across BC on Friday or Saturday, followed by another low pressure system a couple days later. Whether this will happen or not is still in question, but it does give us a chance for some rain at the end of next week. Do you hear the mountain bike trails cheering? Listen carefully… they are very quiet…
Anyway, given the number of emails I’ve received from you guys asking about rain, this is good news to many people. I know it’s good news to me, as I’m getting a little sun-crazy.
For your entertainment this weekend, Denise E. up in Odell will be pickling peppers. I’m not sure if she’s pickling a peck, but perhaps a pint or two. Joking aside, today is the annual Girl Paddle on the White Salmon River, where girls (no, not men in wigs and tutus, just girls) get together for squeals and splashes and an awesome raffle after the paddle.
From 3-6 in Cascade Locks today, you have a choice: It’s “Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day” at the EasyCLIMB trail, and it’s “Celebrate Blackberry Beach” day at (duh) Blackberry Beach. The first is family-friendly. The second involves a keg.
Coming up tomorrow, there’s a CGWA work party at the Hatchery from 9-noon with great swag from Da Kine. Then from 3-5, there’s pickup touch rugby in Mosier.
