I just have to share how lovely it was in The Dalles yesterday. Blue sky. Snow on all the hills. Roads east of town clear of gravel (but icy at the top of Emerson) and perfect for road biking. Your mountain biking report is not so great: There’s snow about 1/3 of the way up Syncline, and what isn’t snowy is muddy. Everything’s about to freeze, as the temp the next few days will be in the upper twenties at night and the low thirties during the day. Next chance for snow? A few flurries may fall Saturday night, but the next best chance for messy weather is on Wednesday.

Gorge weather for the next few days looks partly cloudy today, and foggy/low clouds the next two days. You’ll probably have to go up, east, or west to find sun. Maybe I’ll be wrong, but don’t feel like you’re stuck with clouds.

On Mt. Hood, it’ll be high overcast today. The freezing level will be at the surface, and wind will be light and variable.

Saturday starts off cloudy, becoming clear with low clouds by midday. The freezing level will be at the surface, maybe rising to as much as 500′ in the evening. Wind Saturday will be NW 10-15.

Sunday looks clear and cold, with light north wind. Monday looks cloudy and cold with light west wind.

Have an awesome day today!

It looks like the overall weather pattern is going to change for a bit, with less moisture and more sun, but not a huge, extended blocking high pressure system (although I could do with a week of sun)… We might see a few sprinkles in the Gorge over the next few days, but really no significant precipitation. However, the snow isn’t going anywhere, with the freezing level hovering around 1000′ today, 500′ tomorrow, and near the surface on Saturday and Sunday. We’ll see west wind at 21-24 today and east wind at 22-26 tomorrow afternoon. Cross your fingers for clearing… it’s going to be tough with all the moisture on the ground, but maybe, just maybe, we’ll see some sun down here! Today is probably a better chance of sunbreaks than tomorrow.

On Mt. Hood today, the snow level will be about 1000′, with flurries in the morning giving way to mostly clear sky by midday, with high clouds moving in overnight. Total precip will be under .2” water value (wv), for less than 2” of new snow. Wind today will be WNW 30 early, going to NW 20 mid-morning and holding for the rest of the day.

Friday starts off with a few clouds and flurries, becoming partly cloudy, or maybe high overcast in the afternoon. The snow level will be around 500′. Total precip will be less than .1” wv, for less than an inch of new. Wind will be W 5-10 in the morning, going to SE 10 by noon.

Saturday looks partly cloudy early, becoming clear by noon. The freezing level will be less than 500′. Wind will be E 10 early becoming N 10 in the afternoon. Sunday looks clear, with the freezing level at the surface with light north wind.

Have an awesome day today!
