Mt. Hood Weather Forecast
It’s a very windy Sunday morning on the mountain, and that’s like to affect some lifts, especially at Timberline, where easterlies often ramp up more than at Meadows. That said, there’s fresh fluffy powder on the ground. With 60 resorts across the country already closed due to Covid-19, it’s probably a good idea to get your skiing in while you still can!For Sunday, expect flurries, clouds and wind in the morning and decreasing clouds in the afternoon with a shot at some clearing. The snow level will be 0′ all day. Just a trace of snow will fall. Morning wind will be E 30-40, and afternoon wind will be E 20-30.
Monday looks sunny on the mountain. The free air freezing level will be 0′ early, 5000′ in the afternoon, and 6500′ overnight. No precip. Wind: E 30-40 early, E 15-20 in the afternoon, and NE 15-20 after midnight.
Tuesday looks sunny during the day with high clouds overnight. The free air freezing level will be 6000-6500′ all day, and will fall to 500′ overnight. No precip. Wind: NE 15-20 early, W 5 in the afternoon, NW 10 in the evening, and light-and-variable overnight. The current forecast for Wednesday has light snowfall, an inch or so, with the snow level around 1500-2000′. Light wind. Sunshine returns on Thursday. No significant precip exists in the extended forecast.
Gorge Wind Forecast
East wind isn’t as strong as the gradients would suggest this morning because the cold pool is deeper than anticipated. Easterlies are pouring over the top of the Cascades. Down along the river, the Rooster to Viento section will have 20-25 and other locations will have E 5-10. River flow is 90,800cfs and temp is 43 degrees. Monday starts with E 20-25 and picks up to E 30-35. Tuesday starts with E 10-15 and turns around to W 5-8 in the afternoon.COAST, JONES, SAUVIE’S: Detailed forecast is on winter break.
Hood River Weather Forecast
The Nothing appears to be present this morning with higher clouds above it. We’ll have a cloudy morning and should see the sun this afternoon. Temps will be in the upper 20’s early and mid 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Monday looks partly cloudy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. Temps will be in the mid 20’s early and near 50 later. Maybe. That seems high to me. East wind. No rainbows. Tuesday starts clear. It’s been raining all night and snowing above 1000′ or so. That’ll likely mess up your cycling plans. It’ll also make the trails muddy. If you ride, you’ll damage them. Please don’t! With temps dropping into the 20’s overnight the next few nights, major freeze-thaw is expected. Stay off exposed trails: Syncline, Hospital Hill, Kleeway, Mobius, Seven Streams… those are just a few examples. The damage you do is nearly permanent, so do something else instead!Upcoming Events
The Spring demo day at Meadows scheduled for today was canceled. There is a trail run race “The Ruff” on Dog Mountain today. Teacup has the Glides of March Strava race today. Start at your own pace and follow the course. Teacup’s cabin is closed for social distancing reasons. Mt. Adams Zen Temple has a daylong meditation retreat today from 9am to 5pm.
