9/8 Forecast

Good morning! We’re stuck in a fall-like pattern the next couple of days with cloudy skies, a chance of rain, and gusty west wind. As an upper level low makes its way east of the Cascades over the next couple of days, the westerlies will pick up. Today looks very gusty, with 15-19 from Hood…

Meet your forecaster: Temira

For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.

This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. With Temira’s guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and just plain have more fun! But the story doesn’t end there.

There’s “Temira’s Awesome Travel Advisory Service” and “Valuable Advice for Gardeners Inhabiting Neighboring Areas” – the Gorge’s premier microclimate forecast and gardening information. When winter storms, extreme heat, hail, or avalanches on SR-14 and I-84 threaten, TATAS keeps everyone and their tomatoes and giant pumpkins and cash crops safe.

Temira’s relentless efforts keep the forecasts flowing. But it ain’t easy: each forecast takes a couple of hours. That’s where you come in. By contributing, you’re not just supporting Temira’s passion project – you’re investing in the safety and well-being of the entire Gorge community. Your financial support ensures these essential forecasts remain accessible to all, free of charge.

Or just contribute enough for a cup or pound of coffee. I need coffee! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Help me keep this labor of love alive, so we can all commute safely, play in the river, and shred Mt. Hood with the best weather forecasts possible. Thank you!

Good morning!

We’re stuck in a fall-like pattern the next couple of days with cloudy skies, a chance of rain, and gusty west wind. As an upper level low makes its way east of the Cascades over the next couple of days, the westerlies will pick up.

Today looks very gusty, with 15-19 from Hood River out to The Dalles, and possibly as far east as Rufus. Winds pick up a little in the afternoon as the desert warms up a little, building into the gusty 19-24 range.

The upper level low moves east of the Cascades tomorrow, and high pressure slowly fills in behind. It’s still going to be pretty cloudy in the western Gorge, so we’ll see gusty 13-18 all day there. Doug’s, Maryhill, and Arlington see 23-26 in the afternoon.

Boaters, tonight’s the Kayak Shed’s shop paddle, and my friend Devin’s running the Midlde for the first time. Come on out and support him. The White Salmon’s still at 1 ¾ feet, and the Tieton, if you want to road trip, is at 1820 cfs and rising daily.

Finally, the snow level’s right around 7000 feet right now, I can see a ton of new snow on Adams, and Timberline and Skibowl announced the Fusion Pass pricing yesterday. It’s $449 this year, the same as a Meadows pass. You have until November 7th to purchase a ski pass somewhere at the discounted rates for this epic La Nina season! It wouldn’t surprise me if you could ski powder today!

Have a great day today!
