Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
It’s a cloudy morning on the slopes of Mt. Hood, and there’s some weather headed this way. Teh snow level will be 6500′ this morning, 6000′ this afternoon, and 2500′ after midnight, by which time the precip will be mostly done. We’ll see around .6” of rain (possibly mixed with wet snow) between 10am and 4pm today, followed by .1-.2” WV of orographic precipitation tonight, probably as an inch or two of snow. Wind today will be SW 20 early, rising quickly to SW 40 mid-morning and turning to WSW 45 in the afternoon and evening with W 30 after midnight. Set your clocks ahead tonight, yo!
Sunday may start out with a few orographic snow flurries that alternate with partly cloudy sky. The precip will end quickly and the sky will turn cloudy for the rest of the day. The snow level Sunday will be 2500′ early, rising to 7500′ in the afternoon and 9000′ after midnight. Wind on Sunday will be W 20 early, dropping to W 15-20 by late morning and becoming WSW 25 after midnight.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished
Rain starts up by 5am on Monday and continues through 11pm or so, after which the sky should clear. The snow level will be 9000′ early, 7000′ midday, and 8000′ after midnight. The current run of the GFS suggests 1.5” rain between 5am and 5pm with just a tenth of an inch or so after 5pm. Wind on Monday will be WSW 25 early, W 30 in the afternoon, and SW 15 in the evening.
Tuesday looks like it will start off clear and then turn showery. The snow level will be 9000′ or so all day. It currently looks like we’ll see just light sprinkles on the mountain on Tuesday. Wind will be SW 15 in the morning, steadily rising to SW 35 after midnight. The long-range forecast suggests another round of heavy rain on Wednesday. After that, models diverge, with the GFS calling for very heavy precip on Friday and the Euro calling for light precip or dry weather. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what conclusion they reach.
Gorge Wind Forecast
East wind at 30-35 at Iwash (Rooster) early this morning goes calm by noon and turns to W 20-23 after 4pm. Light west wind early on Sunday turns to calm conditions by midday. Light east wind on Monday morning turns to light west wind on Monday afternoon.

Random Morning Thoughts
Many of us feel that we have a best self who comes forward in certain situations. We feel strong, confident, self-assured when we are in that self. And then we move from one place (work, say) to another place (home, for example), and we transform into somebody else. We shrink. We hide. We let fear determine who we are.
One thing I like to do with clients is suggest they take that best self from one environment into another. You too can do this. When you find yourself in a situation where you are shrinking, compromising, or being someone other than who you’d like to be, slow down. Take a moment to imagine yourself in that other environment, the one where you believe fully in yourself. (and if you don’t have moments like that, have hope – you can grow into yourself still, no matter your age or life circumstances!)
Here’s the thing: if we have to ability to be awesome in one situation, that ability lives in our neural networks. All we have to do is learn to call up those networks in other situations. It’s a slow process, but you can start with just a moment of being your best self in a difficult situation. Best of luck to you. You’re awesome. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
It’s partly cloudy this morning but will quickly turn cloudy and then rainy by 9am or 10am, which kinda blows my plans to ride my bike to my study spot. Rain continues through the evening, turning showery overnight. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and the upper 40’s in the afternoon. East wind early, west wind after 4pm, 89% chance of rainbows. Sunday looks showery early and dry later with cloudy sky all day. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and the upper 50’s (yes, you read that right!) in the afternoon. Light wind. 31% chance of morning rainbows. Monday looks wet and rainy through the afternoon followed by sprinkles late in the day. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and the mid 50’s in the afternoon. Light easterlies early, light westerlies later, 17% chance of rainbows.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
I received a report that Syncline was awesome yesterday afternoon. That means you have this morning to get it before the rain arrives. But don’t worry – it’ll be great Sunday afternoon too! In other news, the Twin Tunnels is clear of snow, but has a lot of debris down. You can now ride to Mosier.
Upcoming Events
Today’s Saturday. There are a couple of events today: The Mt. Hood roundup skinning and skiing event (in horrendous backcountry conditions) at White River snopark at 8am. Today is also The Dalles Mountain 60 (in the rain), a non-supported, unofficial bike ride that leaves Holstein’s Coffee in The Dalles around 10am.
Have an awesome day today!
