Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…

Monday looks cloudy all day. The models show the precip staying north of us until the evening, with rain starting up sometime between sunset and midnight. The snow level will be 9000-10,000′ all day. It currently looks like we’ll see about .4-.5” rain between midnight Monday and 4am Tuesday, but a small shift in the storm track could change that. Wind on Monday will be W 10 in the morning and SW 20 in the afternoon, rising to WSW 45 after midnight.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished

Tuesday looks rainy on Mt. Hood. The snow level will be around 10,000′ all day, falling to 8000′ after midnight. With the bullseye of the storm track currently north of us on the GFS, we’re looking at 1-3” of rain between 4am Tuesday and 4am Wednesday. Wind on Tuesday will be WSW 50-60 all day.

Wednesday looks rainy for much of the day. The rain should switch over to snow around 10pm. The snow level will be 8000′ early, dropping to 5000′ or a bit less around 10pm. Once again, exact precip amounts depend a lot on the exact storm track. For now, let’s call it 1-1.5” of rain during the day, followed by .3-.5” WV for 2-4” of snow overnight. Wind on Wednesday will be WSW 50-60 all day. Thursday currently looks snowy.

Gorge Wind Forecast

East wind at 50-55 this morning (Sunday) fades to 40-45 at Rooster this afternoon. East wind at 40-45 on Monday morning backs off to E 25-30 overnight, turning (maybe) westerly at Rooster but no further east by early Tuesday morning. Light and variable or calm wind on Tuesday and Wednesday in the central Gorge.

Random Morning Thoughts

Many of us have very busy lives. This keeps us from giving back to our community in the ways we’d like to. Perhaps volunteering doesn’t even cross our minds because we’re so busy! It’s a shame, because generosity can make us feel very, very good. =)

I’d like to bring your attention to the fact that a mother-daughter household in Hood River lost everything to a home fire a couple of days ago. Although they do have insurance, they have nothing but the clothes on their back until the insurance pays out. Perhaps you’d like to help, especially if you’re someone who has more money than time!

The Gofundme for Adria and Gayle will help them purchase clothes and other necessities while they decide what to do next. Even a small donation will help. Thank you for your caring and generosity. You’re awesome. Have an awesome day.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

Gorge Weather Forecast

The Nothing is out there this morning, standing in between the high-elevation sun and the Gorge. Expect Nothing today with light snow flurries. Temps will be in the teens early and the upper teens to low 20’s in the afternoon. Brrr. East wind. No rainbows. Monday looks like Nothing again, followed by clouds. Temps will be in the low double digits early and the mid 20’s in the afternoon. Light sleet or freezing rain starts up between 7pm and 9pm. Amounts depend on the exact storm track. East wind. No rainbows. Tuesday starts off with freezing rain. If we’re really, really lucky, the cold pool will warm up enough to switch us to rain during the day. If not, well, that would suck. Temps will be in the upper 20’s early, and who knows what in the afternoon. Light and variable wind in the central Gorge. No rainbows.
