Wednesday. Snow for everyone, everywhere!

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

In a fun twist, the storm system came in way further north than expected, bringing way more snow than expected. We’ll see another 2-4” today before the precip tapers off this afternoon. The snow level will be at the surface (as I’m sure you’ve noticed by snowfall at your house). Temps at 5000′ will be in the teens. Light and variable wind. Continued after the chart…

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…

The sky should be clear by Thursday morning. The free air freezing level will be at the surface. Temps at 5000′ will be in the teens early and low 20’s in the afternoon. NE wind at 10mph.

Friday looks clear. The free air freezing level will be at the surface. Temps will be in the low 20’s early and the upper 20’s in the afternoon. Light and variable wind.

Saturday looks clear and warm. The free air freezing level will be at the surface, but temps at 5000′ will be in the mid 30’s. That should contribute to avalanche hazard as the snowpack warms and settles. Light and variable wind.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished

In the long-range forecast, we’re expecting a few inches of snow both Sunday morning and Monday morning. The GFS is suggesting a massive atmospheric river event starting Tuesday morning with 2-4” of rain for the mountain. If this comes to pass, there will be all sorts of messes for the lowlands. Maybe you want to pick up some urban flooding insurance?

Gorge Wind Forecast

East wind at 35-40 this morning backs off to 15-20 this afternoon. East wind blows at 25-30 all day Thursday. East wind continues at 40mph all day on Friday. East wind at 40-50 on Saturday.

Random Morning Thoughts

I’m a little short on time this morning, so I’ll just send you well wishes in this snowpocalypse. See if you can find a way to have at least a little fun along with the hassles that are inherently part of low-land snowfall. You’re awesome. Have an awesome day!

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

Gorge Weather Forecast

Expect continued snowfall this morning with 2-4” by noon, after which the precip should taper off. Temps will be in the mid 20’s all day. East wind. No rainbows. The sky clears overnight, leading to cold temps, especially for those above 1000′ or so. Expect teens near the river in the morning with high temps in the mid-20’s. East wind. No rainbows. Friday may start off with freezing fog, so be careful out there. The sky should clear by afternoon. If there’s no fog, temps will drop into the single digits overnight. Otherwise, expect teens in the morning and mid to upper 20’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Next chance for precip is Sunday morning, but it looks like 2” or less. Of snow, of course. Tuesday currently looks terrifying. Make plans to not travel that day.
