Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
In a delightful twist (and just as predicted), Meadows and Timberline have 3-4” of new snow this morning with the snow level right around 5000′-5500′. We’ll see the snow level hover around 5000-5500′ today, rising to 6000′ this evening. Models suggest we’ll see .7” water value (WV) between this morning and 5pm, followed by another .1-.2” WV between 5pm and 11pm. That should give us a total of around 4-5” of additional wet, heavy snow at 5000′. Wind today will be WSW 30-35 early, fading to SW 20-25 after 5pm. Continued after the chart…

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…
Tuesday starts off with a few flurries and quickly turns sunny. The free air freezing level will be 4500′-5000′ for much of the day, rising to 8000′ after midnight. Wind on Teusday will be W 25 in the morning and SW 10 in the evening.
Wednesday looks sunny for much of the day with clouds after 5pm and rain between 8pm and 11pm. The snow level will be 8000′ early, 12,000′ midday, and 10,000′ after the sun sets. We’ll see approximately .5” of rain overnight, ending by 2am. Wind on Wednesday will be SSW 10-15 early and SSW 25-30 in the afternoon and evening.

Thursday looks clear, sunny and warm. The free air freezing level will be 9000′ in the morning and 10,000′ in the evening. Wind will be SW 20 early and SW 10 in the evening. The next big weather system is currently forecast for Saturday into Sunday. This one looks to start with a big shot of rain and finish with several inches of snow.
Gorge Wind Forecast
It’s quite possible this has been the least windiest October ever. October concludes with some unreliable west wind. Expect a quick burst of 20-23 this morning at Steven’s Locks and at Arlington. Models suggest the central Gorge won’t see much wind. Whether it does or not, all the wind starts to fade after 11am, becoming light and variable this afternoon. Tuesday looks like west wind at 7-11 or so all day, everywhere. Wednesday sees an upper level low off the coast. That’ll drive easterlies at 20-25+.

Random Morning Thoughts
It’s Halloween, and many of us will be in costume today. It’s ironic, I tell ya. Many of us spend much of our lives in costume. We hide our true self from the outside world using bravado, humor, drama, gusto, silliness, self-righteousness, and a thousand others outfits.
We do this because we’re afraid of being hurt. We clothe our vulnerability in personas, keeping people away, raising suspicions, setting off alarms. Pretending to be someone else, we draw in, befriend, partner with people who like the persona, not our inner human being.
Perhaps we can take Halloween as an opportunity. By wearing a costume, we become someone else. We can give that someone else a different personality – our true personality. Give it a shot – be yourself this Halloween. Because you’re awesome, yo. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
It’s dark, grey and wet out there this morning. Expect nothing to change until this afternoon when we’ll have a chance of sunbreaks and dry periods. Temps will be in the upper 40’s early and the mid 50’s in the afternoon. Light to moderate west wind. 58% chance of rainbows this afternoon. Tuesday looks mostly cloudy with scattered sprinkles in the morning and dry weather in the afternoon. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and the mid 50’s in the afternoon. Light west wind. 11% chance of morning rainbows. Wednesday looks dry through 10pm or so. That’s followed by a quick shot of late-night rain. The Nothing, most likely, will block the sun for the morning, at least. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and the upper 50’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows.

We’ve had 6.44” of rain so far this month, meaning the trails are too wet to ride. That also applies to you. If you’d like to give back to the trail system, there’s a work party on the Whoopdee Trail on Sunday at 9am.
Upcoming Events
It’s Monday, and there’s meditation at Trinity Natural Medicine at noon. That’s followed by Tai Chi at the Mt. Hood Town Hall at 1pm. There’s a walking happiness group that leaves One Community Health in The Dalles at 5pm, there’s Kickball at Daubenspeck Park at 6, free yoga at Samadhi at 6, Pickup Basketball at the Mt. Hood Town Hall at 6:30, free Zumba at St. Francis House in Odell and at the Parkdale Community Center, and YogaFaith (Christ-centered yoga) at Pure Yoga in The Dalles.
Coming up this weekend, there’s a work party at Rowena Park on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided. There’s a work party on the Whoopdee trail on Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Don’t forget that we change the clocks on Saturday night. That’ll give you an extra hour of sleep that night. Don’t be early for the work party!
