Friday looks more interesting, and also difficult to get right. The day will start off sunny and turn cloudy around noon. Precip starts up around 6pm, continuing through Saturday morning. Different models are predicting different snow levels, but most likely, this is going to be mostly rain. As of today, it looks like the snow level will be 10,000′ early, dropping to 6500′ with the arrival of the precip, falling to 5000′ around 1am Saturday and 4500′ by 4am Saturday. For now, let’s call this 1-1.25” WV between 6pm Friday and 4am Saturday. It looks like at least the first 3/4” will fall as rain, followed by 3-5” of wet snow. That forecast is likely to change as we get closer to Friday. Wind Friday will be SW 10-15 for much of the day, rising to W 30 overnight.

Saturday currently looks snowy early with sunshine by noon. The snow level will be 5000′ early, 2000′ midday, and 5500′ overnight. Wind will be WSW 35 for much of the day, dropping to SW 10 in the evening. Sunday currently looks cloudy in the morning with rain in the afternoon.

Gorge Wind Forecast

Wednesday: East wind at 25-30 at Rooster this morning backs off to calm wind this afternoon. East wind at 20-25 Thursday morning with E 15-20 Thursday afternoon. East wind at 20-25 Friday morning with west wind at 15-18 Friday afternoon. Saturday looks interesting. Random Morning Thoughts

This being Wednesday, I was listening to cheesy 1980’s music while I was writing the forecast. To be specific, I was listening to Duran Duran. After a while, I wasn’t just listening. I was singing along. Be glad you’re not my neighbor, because I can’t hold a tune to save my life.

Anyway, this got me thinking: how is it possible that I know all the words to dozens and dozens of 1980’s songs, but I can’t remember anything about the chapter I read for class last week?

They (whoever they are), say that the best way to learn stuff is to wire it in using multiple methods. For example, research shows that taking notes by hand is more effective at solidifying knowledge than taking notes on a laptop. There’s something about the process of writing that works better than typing. Forming all those letters is complicated, perhaps, and creates more links between the new knowledge and the motor skills, allowing for easier retrieval?

Anyway, you can leverage this. For example, you could sing your notes to yourself, thus using multiple systems to remember the information. You could sing along with a new song, and write down the lyrics as you’re learning them. You could spin in circles like a forest fairy while listening to an audiobook or a lecture. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination. Play with it. Because your time is limited, and you wanna be efficient about learning so you can ski, snowboard, or ride a bike. Have an awesome day!

Road and Mountain Biking

The dirt’s pretty dang amazing over on Syncline right now. You might wanna go riding. In other news, I checked Strava and didn’t see any rides on Whoopdee or Post. I betcha Post is okay by now, but someone’s going to have to go check it out today. Not me. I have to go to school. In Whoopdee news, some trail fairies when and chopped down all the overgrown brush, so when that trail dries out, it’s going to be good to go! In road biking news, today looks great. Much less east wind than yesterday. Same tomorrow, with more sun.
