It’s a clear start to the day on Mt. Hood, but a quick-moving front will bring a shot of snow midday before the sky clears off again this evening. The snow level today will rise to 5000′ mid-morning and drop to 2000′ with the arrival of the weather system, dropping further to 1000′ or less overnight. Wind today will be SW 10-15 early, rising to SW 20 around noon and turning to W 30 in the afternoon and evening. Continued after the chart.

Random Morning Thoughts
One of my subscribers sent me a sweet email the other day suggesting that it might be okay for me to give myself a break from the time-consuming RMT’s once in a while. Yeah, I’m not so good at taking breaks, am I? Many of us, I think, aren’t good at taking breaks. We drive ourselves hard in work, in play, and even in relaxation. Some of that endless motion is because we don’t want to stop and feel or see what’s inside of us.
I keep writing because I believe it’s important to look inside and see what’s there. And quite frankly, I don’t have the willpower to keep a journal, although I think journaling is a worthy pursuit. Anyway, when we look inside, even ever-so-briefly, we learn about our experience. We learn about what is making us tick, what drives us to do the things we do. We understand our emotions better, we understand how we interact with others better, and we move closer to living fully in our present experience.
Turning inward is painful sometimes. That’s why we keep moving. On the other hand, the more we turn inward, the more our inner experience transforms into something better, something lighter, something easier to carry around. The trick to transformation, however, is that we have to do what feels so scary – we have to look inside and really get to know the chaos within. If you choose to do that, you are a brave and determined human being. I salute you. And if you choose not to look inside, that’s brave too, because you’re choosing to live with things as they are. Y’all have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
I looked outside my house just before 5am, and there was Nothing out there. I know it’s Nothing, because there are stars visible on Mt. Hood and none down here. Expect clouds this morning, rain 1pm-4pm, and partly cloudy sky late this afternoon. Temps will be just below freezing early and in the mid 40’s this afternoon. East wind early, west wind late. 87% chance of rainbows.
Monday looks partly cloudy with occasional light sprinkles. It’s even possible, if the timing is perfect, that we’ll see a touch of freezing rain, especially above 500′. But that’s pretty unlikely. Anyway, temps will be in the low 30’s early and the upper 40’s in the afternoon. Light west wind. 31% chance of rainbows.
Tuesday may start out with the Nothing, but looks sunny for much of the day. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and the upper 40’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. The rest of the week looks dry with a big old inversion. Models do suggest sun, rather than Nothing, so that’s nice.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
I went out and took a lap at Syncline yesterday, and Maui was great. I bet Moab was great too. The doubletrack was a stream for much of its length. It’s going to be a nice morning for a ride, but rain midday will make you cold and wet. Same goes for the roads: you’re better off early, because it’s going to rain later on. Now, if you can just hold on for a couple of days… next week looks dry, all week long, making for awesome mountain biking.
