We’ll see .1” water value (WV) this morning, for an inch or so of additional snow before the sun comes out. Wind today will be W 25-30 early, backing off to light SW wind by 4pm. Continued after the chart.

Random Morning Thoughts
I’m working on a research paper for one of my classes, and one of the requirements is that we only use one quote of not longer than 40 words. One quote. 40 words. Any more, and our grade gets docked. I’ve decided I want to quote a poem in my paper, but the poem, like many, is longer than 40 words. This has me a little flustered.
We are raised to think of rules and laws as inflexible. Or most of us are, anyway. And yet, as many of you know, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be pulled over for driving 1 mph over the speed limit. The thought of breaking rules, even unspoken societal rules or class-based rules (yes, we do have classes in the USA – it’s just not as explicit as it is in other countries), can leave us anxious and afraid to step outside the rigid rule-based thinking.
For some people, it’s the thought of using the wrong fork at a dinner party. For some people it’s standing up to authority. For some it’s following the exact direction given by a boss, by paperwork, or in a class. Even the thought of questioning rules and laws brings up fear for many people!
It’s important to remember that there generally is a little more flexibility than you think in instructions, rules, and sometimes, once in a while, even the law. It is okay to step outside the confines of instructions. It’s a very good idea to follow the law, but it’s certainly okay to think about rules and laws and have your own opinion on their validity. Thinking will give you fodder for conversation and for personal growth.
K. I’m way over my 40 words here. You have yourself an awesome day!

Gorge Weather Forecast
I stepped outside my house to check the weather this morning, and I didn’t freeze my ass off, so the weather must be at least okay, and maybe even better than that. I saw a few stars, so let’s call it mostly cloudy. We’ll see a few sprinkles this morning with partly cloudy sky the rest of the day. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and the upper 40’s to low 50’s this afternoon. Light wind. 21% chance of rainbows, but just in the morning.
Sunday starts off cloudy and turns rainy by 1pm, staying rainy through 7pm or so, and then becoming partly cloudy. Temps will be in the low 30’s (watch out for icy roads in the morning) early and the low 40’s in the afternoon. East wind early, west wind late, 74% chance of rainbows.
Monday looks partly to mostly cloudy with occasional sprinkles. Temps will be in the mid 30’s early and the low 50’s in the afternoon. Light west wind.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
We had another .3” of rain yesterday, and that means Post Canyon and Whoopdee and Hospital Hill are way too muddy to ride. Syncline might dry out enough by this afternoon, but there’s going to be a lot of water running down the trail. Please ride through the puddles, not around them, or you will make the trail wider. Keep singletrack single, folks!
Upcoming Events
Happy Saturday, everyone! There’s a trail run in Post Canyon at 8am today. Coming up tomorrow, there’s community yoga (free or by donation) at Samadhi at 9am. There’s a community meditation at Flow Yoga at 11am. There’s pickup touch rugby at 3pm at the Mosier School, there’s 4pm YogaFaith at Pure Yoga in The Dalles, there’s ping pong at the Hood River Armory at 5pm, and there’s community yoga at Pure Yoga in Hood River at 6pm.
Have an awesome day today!
