The easterlies this morning are quite a bit stronger than I thought they would be, and that means we should all pack up and head to Rooster. By “we”, I mean you, as I have quite a bit of work and studying to do today and not enough hours to get it all done. With the pdx-dls gradient at .16 at 7am, you can expect Rooster to provide 35-40 through midday, fading to gusty 26-30 this afternoon. Looking at the graph from yesterday, Stevenson was actually windiest from 1pm-5pm, which is odd. I don’t know if that pattern will repeat today. I do suspect that you can expect Stevenson to pick up to 25-29 by late morning, probably the upper end of that wind range, and last until mid-afternoon. Continued after the chart.

Gorge Wind Forecast, continued…
Things switch up tomorrow as a trough of low pressure moves over the region. The western Gorge will likely end up in the shower/rainbow zone tomorrow, meaning you’ll need to drive east to find consistent wind. We’ll start off with westerlies at 5-10. They’ll slowly pick up during the day, jumping to gusty 22-25 from Mosier to Arlington after 2pm. Stevenson and Hood River will likely see up-and-down, all over the board, gusty westerlies.

See below for details.
A closed low pressure system will move across southern Oregon on Sunday, setting up another round of west wind. Once again, We’ll start off with 10-13 from Hood River eastward. In the afternoon, the westerlies will pick up to 22-25, probably from Lyle to Arlington, but possibly at Mosier too. Depending on the showers and clouds, there’s a decent chance Hood River will see 13-16 tomorrow afternoon. At this point, Monday looks like another chance at mid-twenties westerlies.
Coast forecast: surfing weather. Today: light and variable wind, W swell 3′ @ 11 seconds. Tomorrow: light and variable wind, W 6′ @ 10. Sunday: light/light/20-25 south coast, W 8′ @ 12.
Jones n’ Sauvie’s beta test forecast: not windy in the next three days, sorry.

Random Morning Thoughts
One of my projects for school is to sit down with healthy families (well, one healthy family, but I want to do more than one!), ask them questions, and then observe and write about my reactions. I sat down with an amazing family last night, and observing my reactions is currently taking up 99.9% of my processing capacity. So, I’m unable to come up with any random morning thoughts right now.
Therefore, I will just leave you with this: I hope you have an awesome Friday. I hope your weekend is filled with fun activities with good company. I hope you, and I, both see lots and lots of rainbows over the next couple of days. Have an awesome day!

Road and Mountain Biking
I’ve got your back, people: I went and checked the trail conditions for you again yesterday. Hospital Hill has returned to being dry and dusty, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. It’s quite fun. Just dry. Post likely still has some tacky areas, so that would be fun too. There’s a work party on the 170 trail on Saturday at 9am. Meet at Binn’s Hill Staging Area. Also Saturday, it’s Biketoberfest, brought to you by Mountain View, with free Trek demos, live music, food, beer and a raffle fundraiser.
