In Gorge events news, tomorrow night is the only local showing of the kayaking movie Congo. This is not a bro-brah flick. This is the story of Steve Fisher and friends’ first descent of the mighty Congo river. I haven’t seen it yet, but all sources say it’s an amazing film. Friday. Columbia Center for the arts. $12. In other news, there are free Burton demos at Meadows Friday and Saturday.

In Gorge weather, we’ll see more snow tonight, starting after midnight and continuing through 10am, for a few inches of new down to river level.

Up on Mt. Hood, snow continues to fall in copious amounts. The snow level is currently around 4000′, but will fall to 3000′ at 4pm and 1500′ at 10pm, with an inversion in the Gorge. Approximately .7” water value (WV) falls between 4am and 4pm, for 7-8” of new snow during the day. Flurries continue overnight, for a trace of new, with heavier snow starting again Friday morning. Wind today will be SSW 30-40 early, going to SW 30-40 mid-morning and slowly dropping to SW 20 by 10pm.

Friday morning starts with a round of heavy snow between 4am and 10am. The snow level will be at the surface around 4am, rising to 2500′ at 10am and 3500′ at 4pm. About .2-.4” WV falls between 4am and 10am, for 3-5” of new snow. Wind will be S 20-30 early, going to SW 25-30 at 10am and dropping to 20-25 at 4pm.

Saturday sees snow flurries all day, with the snow level around 4000′ early, falling to 2500′ around 10am and staying there all day. Models are disagreeing on precip amounts, so let’s call it a few inches of new snow. Wind will be SSW 20-30 all day.

Flurries continue Sunday, with the snow level at 2500′ early, falling to 1000′ in the afternoon with moderate wind. The long-range forecast contains seasonably cold weather and more snow.
