Okay, it’s official. We’ve entered snow season, so your winter snow forecast is coming. If you didn’t see Hood or Adams yesterday, you missed out, because they’re covered in white all the way down to 6500 feet or so. I looked at the webcams this morning at Meadows, and it snowed most of the way down Stadium, aka Stadium Express, aka SEX. With a ton of moisture on the radar last night, the mountains probably got a few more inches.
Sure, it’s not ski season yet, but it’s nice to see the fresh blanket of white on the hills.
The snow level will be 5000’ through today and tomorrow, rising to 6000’ tomorrow night. On Friday, the snow level goes back to 8000’. Keep those snow levels in mind if you’re out hiking or mountain biking, and take plenty of warm clothes with you.

If the chilly weather isn’t keeping you from thinking about wind sports, then you’ll like this forecast. We’ll see west wind picking up to 10-15 today. Tomorrow, the wind starts out in the 10-15 range, and then as high pressure builds off the coast, the wind will pick up to gusty 24-26 in the afternoon from Hood River east to Arlington.
Friday morning starts off windy too, with west wind at 23-26 from Mosier to Arlington early, backing off to 18-21 in the afternoon.
In mountain biking land, Mitchell of Dirty Fingers has put up a tack alert for the 44 road trails and for Post for tomorrow. Say bye-bye to the dust and hello to perfect mountain biking conditions. If it’s perfect, there’s a headlight post and pint tomorrow night at 5:30.
For you kayakers, tonight is the last Kayak Shed shop paddle of the season. Meet at Husum for a run down the Lower or Middle, followed by a bbq/potluck afterwards. Bring something to share. I’m bringing (what else) brownies.
Finally, it’s eco-challenge month (or week… whatever). Pick something eco-style and try it out for a couple of weeks. It could be bike commuting, eating less meat, hypermiling, removing your lawn and going native in your yard (no, not naked. Native.) whatever. Just have fun with it.

I was deeply offended by your forecast today in which you unfortunately used gutter language when referring to the new Mt. Hood Meadows Stadium lift as “S*x”. I plead with you to remember that some of your readers are under the age of 21 your use of this type of language is completely unacceptable.
