Thank you for using this forecast. Like it? Find it useful? Support it (and me!) by sending some cash my way. Why should you keep doing this when you’re under a stay-at-home order? Because my bills don’t stop – I hope you’ll consider contributing even though the world has ground to a standstill. That’ll keep the forecast going through this crisis, and it’ll mean the forecast is here when we all emerge from our homes. What’s it cost to support me and get the email version? Not $99 a year. Nope. Not $49. Just $19.99 or more gets you a year. Click below to contribute. Thank you!!

Gorge Wind Forecast
Oregon and Washington are encouraging people to not travel more than 50 miles (not mph!) to access recreation. Non-essential travel is still being strongly discouraged in ALL jurisdictions. Land managers and law enforcement are carefully watching to see if people maintain social distancing. If crowding happens, water access will be revoked. If you are local and lucky enough to have water access in your community, please do this: rig, play, leave. There is NO camping allowed at any of the river parks. Please don’t camp unlawfully; doing so risks access for everyone, including for people who just want to use the parks for a picnic. Please follow the directions of your local government officials and help keep the Gorge community safe. Thank you!
While the Gorge will be under the influence of various weather systems today and the next five days or so, models are still suggesting we’ll see a solid day on the river for Friday. Offshore high pressure combines with low pressure in the desert for … wind! Expect a slow and steady build to 29-33 from Stevenson to Threemile. Westerlies will likely drop between Stevenson to Hood River in the afternoon. There’s also a chance of 32-36 from Rowena to Threemile. River flow is 352kcfs and temp is 58 degrees.
On Saturday, the wind starts out at 5-10 in the west and 13-16 east of The Dalles. Afternoon westerlies hold at 5-10 in the west and 15-18 from The Dalles to Boardman. On Sunday, we start with 12-15 everywhere. Afternoon wind holds at 12-15 in the west and rises to 20-23 east of The Dalles.
