The wind is going to start off light today, but as a low pressure system moves east, it will pick up, but a chance of thunderstorms may make the wind gusty, unreliable, and downright dangerous. That said, we should see 13-1 by midday and 18-22 this afternoon from Stevenson to Hood River.

Tomorrow looks like the lightest day of the next three as weak high pressure slows the Gorge wind. Even so, we should see 15-18 from Stevenson to Hood River for much of the day.

The Clymb: free membership.
Access to super cheap gear including Trew, Zeal, Sierra Designs, and many more.

Monday looks like the start of at least a three-day windy streak as high pressure over the Pacific teams up with cold air along the coast and in Portland for strong wind in the Gorge. We’ll start off with 22-25 on Monday, building to 25-28 near Hood River, pushing to Doug’s in the afternoon. Tuesday looks like a carbon copy of Monday.

In events, it’s busy. I don’t know what happens at a Subaru rally, but I know we’ve got a lot of Subarus around here. Check out the West Coast Subaru Rally at the Skamania County fairgrounds today and tomorrow. Then you’ve got the Bigfoot Bash and Bounty in Home Valley today, the Cabrinha kite race today, and a couple of hardcore road bike rides leaving downtown Hood River at 8 and 8:30. Tonight there’s the Northwave Customer Appreciation Party from 5-9 at the loft, and then from 7-9 at Columbia Center for the Arts, there’s the movie Patagonia Rising about proposed dams in Patagonia.

If you are a kayaker, the White Salmon is now at 2.4ft, and that seems to have tipped the Cave Wave setting to “surfable.” So, if the heat and humidity get to you today, head to the White Salmon for some paddling.

Have an awesome day today!
