Good morning,
It’s only 57 degrees in the Columbia River right now, and your body isn’t designed for that. Promotion wetsuits are. With thousands of wetsuits in stock and all sorts of not-so-stock sizes (and alterations on site), you’re going to find the perfect suit if you stop by. Promotion isn’t just wetsuits: it’s rashguards, booties, hoods, beanies, shorts, vests and PFDs. Cold water suits are on sale now. Protect yourself from the chilly river the local way: Promotion, based here since 1985. Two short-sleeve rashguards are up for grabs. If you’re interested in winning, sign up for the email with a donation of $10 or more and you’ll have a chance to win.
Unless you happen to own a ski boat, it’s a bit sad out on the Columbia this morning, with glassy water reflecting grey skies. If you own a boat, you’re a happy camper, and hopefully you’re out catching fish for me! As a front moves in this afternoon, we’ll see westerlies pick up to 22-25 at Stevenson and all the way east to Arlington, with good wind for about an hour near Hood River before the wind quality and strength suffers everywhere except Stevenson and Arlington.. Coming up tomorrow, it’s going to be a windy one as high pressure off the coast teams up with low pressure in the desert. We’ll see westerlies at 22-26 right off the bat near Hood River, picking up to 24-28 midday and then going to 22-25 from Stevenson out to Maryhill, maybe Arlington too. Sunday starts off light, with westerlies picking up to 10-15 in the afternoon.
For fun stuff in the next few days, we have First Friday in Hood River tonight. Also tonight and tomorrow and Sunday, it’s White Salmon’s spring festival, with music and food and a parade and all sorts of other fun stuff going on.
Then on Sunday, there’s the women’s Gorgeous Gals road bike ride, with proceeds benefiting HAVEN in The Dalles, providing support to victims of domestic violence. I think it’s $45 to do this ride, and it goes to a great cause, so get your ass in the saddle and support your community.
For you road bikers, the Three Summits course is now open, barely, with a narrow plow lane through the snow on Lake Branch. If you’re doing it, dress warmly. That’s my plan for after work today. For mountain bikers, this weekend is the Bend Enduro Race. Go there and warm up. Your chance at the Hood River race is mid-July.
Also this weekend, CGORA’s motorized/mechanized swap meet on Saturday at Watson performance, 9am-1pm, a CGWA work party at Blackberry Beach from 9-noon, a CGORA dirt bike ride at 2pm Saturday at PineMont and Oregon State Parks day on Saturday (meaning Rowena is free, as are all the other OSPs).
Have an awesome day today!
