5/28 Gorge wind and events. Happy Memorial Day. Thank you, veterans.

Good morning,

We’ll start off with clouds in the western Gorge again this morning, probably sticking around during the day. The west wind will keep blowing today. It’s 15-18ish and cloudy right now. By midday, it’ll pick up to 18-23 from Stevenson to The Dalles, picking up to 23-26 from Hood River to Arlington this afternoon. We’ll see gusty west wind tomorrow at 21-24 from Stevenson to The Dalles for much of the day. Models are all over the place for Wednesday, so I’m not even going to make a guess about the wind forecast.

For workout fun tomorrow, the Hood River Triathlon Club meets for their weekly tri practice at the east end of the Event Site at 6pm. Join them for a nice 500 yard swim, 7 mile bike, and 2.3 mile run. If you’re thinking about that swim portion, I’ll let you know that the Columbia is now at 57 degrees.

Coming up tomorrow for you mountain bike gals, the Girls Who Love Dirt have an all-women’s trail work party on Mitchell Ridge from 9am to noon. Meet at the Seven Streams Staging Area to help with a reroute of the old trail. On Wednesday, there’s a once-montly, family-friendly mountain bike party at Family Man starting at 5:30. Also on Wednesday, the Post and Pinot women’s mountain bike ride leaving Dirty Fingers at 5:30. On Thursday, join Dirty Fingers for the one-and-only Post and Pint ride, assuming it’s not mudded out like last week!

Have an awesome day today!
