Good morning!

I liked what NOAA had to say this morning: “If April showers bring May flowers, then we are in for some impressive displays of flora.”

It’s raining in the valley and dumping snow on the hill again this morning. For some reason the models aren’t handling these spring systems well, as far as moisture quantity goes. We’ll see .5” WV or so during the day, for another 5-7” of new snow, with another .3” after 4pm, for 3-4” of new overnight. The snow level will be at 1500’ early, rising to 3000’ by 2pm. Winds will be SW 25-35 early, rising to SW 35-40 by 2pm.

Models are completely in disagreement tomorrow. One shows almost no moisture and one shows 1-1.5” WV. I’m not sure how to interpret that… it looks like the system will stay mostly south of us. So, call it a few inches of snow during the day tomorrow under cloudy skies. However, if the system shifts north, we could see 8-10” of snow tomorrow. I know. That’s a 100% useless forecast. The snow level will be 1500’ early, rising to 3000’ by 11am and 4000’ by 4pm. Winds will be SW 30-35 early, dropping to SW 15-20 by 11am.

The weather Saturday looks not-so-great, with the snow level at 5500-6000’. Total precipitation will be .25” or less, so we’ll see a mix of rain and snow, but not too much of it. Winds will be fairly light, at NW 10-15.

Sunday looks partly cloudy with the snow level at 5500-6000’ and no measurable precipitation. Winds will be WNW 15-20.

In other news…

The annual Post Canyon Clean-Up Day has been scheduled for Saturday April 16, 2011. That’s this Saturday. It will be held from 9:00am to 12:00pm. All volunteers are to meet at lower Post Canyon Road. You may want to bring warm clothes, work gloves, hat, boots, water, snacks, etc. If you use Post Canyon, show up and help make it a better, cleaner, happier place for everyone!

It doesn’t look like we’ll see much wind in the next few days, so make plans to ski instead of windsurf or kite.

Have a great day today!
